Sunland Home Care Assists with Daily Living

Sunland Home Care provides one-on-one caregivers, companions or personal care aides to assist their clients with the activities of daily living, from personal care to meal preparation. Owned by members of the Farnsworth Family who have been serving seniors in the East Valley since 1958, Sunland is locally owned and operated with a firm commitment to the family name and legacy that it carries.

“Sunland Home Care began 4 years ago. I love business and helping people and when this opportunity came up, I wanted it. I grew up working and serving seniors since my family has been doing it for over 6o years. When I was a young girl, we would come together each holiday season and put together a Christmas concert for each of the 55+ communities where we would sing and dance for the seniors living in the communities. My dad had many events when new models would open and we would be out serving hot dogs. For many years, when residents would buy a new home, we would bake cookies and package them in a cookie jar as a housewarming gift to say thank you. This is something that I have carried on with my own children and these ideals are exemplified within my company culture,” Partner Traci Ahlstrom Beagley said.

The Sunland mission is focused on preserving the independence, dignity and quality of life for aging or infirm loved ones who prefer to stay in their own homes.

“We provide caregivers to assist our seniors in aging gracefully in the comfort of their homes. Studies show that the majority of people want to age at home as opposed to moving into assisted living. People are more comfortable in their home environment as they age and as their health begins to decline.”

Sunland Home Care strives to provide high continuity of care so that the same handful of care professionals are coming in and out of the client’s home, therefore building trust. This allows family members to return to that essential relationship, rather than being the caregiver. Aging adults want to maintain their dignity and having a third party come in and provide personal is key.

“I know we are making a difference in people’s lives, when the family reaches out to us and thanks us for an amazing experience and tells us they couldn’t have done it without us. When we match up the right client with the right caregiver -- it’s beautiful.”

Family of aging parents have recent fear of their parents contracting COVID-19. By limiting the number of visitors or running errands for clients so they can safely stay at home, Sunland is providing them with the best opportunity to stay healthy during this time.

“We want to help you be safe and comfortable while aging in your home. Because of this, Sunland Home Care is going above and beyond what’s recommended by the Centers for Disease and Control to ensure we are giving you peace of mind.”

Work/Life Balance is extremely important to Sunland Home Care, which translates to happy employees who are ready to take on the tasks of caregiver with enthusiasm and rigor each day.

“We have received several awards, but I am most proud of the ‘Great Place To Work’ certification that we received. We had a third party survey all of our employees and when the results came back, we received one of the top scores! I was so proud of the years that it has taken to develop a strong culture of support and appreciation for our employees.”
