Good news, Arvada! In case you didn’t already know, there is a barre studio located right here in town that is not only concerned with getting you in shape, but also a full-blown celebration of movement, connection, and overall wellbeing. If you are in search of an approach to fitness that is tailored specifically to your needs as well as a boost to your mental health, look no further than Arvada Barre. The sole barre studio in the area is a testament to the belief that fitness is a journey best taken together.
Arvada Barre is not just a place to work out; it’s a space where individuals of all ages and fitness levels can come together for a transformative and personalized fitness journey. Owner Jenny Mears explained that she personally found her way into this new endeavor after being driven by a desire for community and interaction after the isolating experiences of 2020.
“Fitness is more than just physical exercise; it’s about mindset and community,” Jenny shares passionately. “The best medicine for me was group fitness, where instructors knew my name. I wanted to create that same welcoming atmosphere at Arvada Barre.” At the core of her philosophy is the belief that fitness should be inclusive, regardless of age, gender, or mobility.
The studio’s low-impact, highly functional barre workouts challenge the misconception that a strenuous cardio regimen is the only path to achieving your fitness goals. With a team of instructors who have each dedicated over three years to mastering the art of barre, the emphasis is on safety and customization.
Barre, often misunderstood as a feminine ballet-inspired workout, is, in reality, a blend of yoga, Pilates, weight training, and cardio. “We incorporate lengthening motions from Pilates, weight training, some vinyasa moves, and some slight cardio into our sessions.” It’s a complete full body workout,” says Jenny. “And contrary to the stereotype, men are more than welcome in our classes and also a bit surprised to see just how effective the workout can be with such light weights and smaller motions.”
“We write our own classes, ensuring a tailored and unique experience every time,” Jenny explains. “Our playlists are curated, and our instructors are hands-on, guiding and assisting as needed to ensure everyone gets the full benefits of the workout. We encourage modifications, making it impactful yet safe for everyone.” Classes last an average of 45 to 50 minutes, with morning, afternoon, and evening classes to accommodate busy schedules for anyone to attend. “We want people to know they are loved, valued, and an integral part of our vibrant community.”
Having recently acquired the studio, Jenny is spearheading a rebrand, breathing new life into her business after seven successful years. She envisions the studio as a welcoming space, a community hub where members can not only rejuvenate their bodies but also reset their minds. The studio’s pink couch symbolizes more than just a piece of furniture, it represents a place to linger, connect, and build lasting friendships.
After class, you are encouraged to hang out, have a cup of coffee and lounge in the warm and inviting ambiance. “We involve our clients in every new development, and their excitement about the upcoming changes thrills us” says Jenny. “We want our studio to be inviting, where people feel not only welcome but good about themselves and also able to find a supportive community.”
