Sweetheart Strawberry Bliss

Strawberries wrapped in a flaky crust—a Valentine's treat for the ones you love.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 4–5 tbsp ice water
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp coarse sugar (optional)

Steps:

  1. Combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter. Add ice water until dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Mix strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla.
  3. Roll dough into a 12" circle, and then trim into a heart shape. Place the filling in the center, and fold edges.
  4. Brush with egg wash; sprinkle sugar. Bake at 375°F for 40–45 minutes.
