Stepping into Thai Season restaurant at 1379 S. Rangeline Road, diners will experience the smells, sounds and sights of authentic Thai cuisine that caters to modern tastes. A culinary exercise in balance, Thai cuisine blends sweet, sour, salty, spicy, bitter and umami flavors into memorable meals.
Abby Pearson, the owner-operator of Thai Season, says she loves sharing Thai culture with Carmel residents and visitors. “I’ve always loved cooking and seeing people enjoy the food I prepare. Over time, my passion for cooking grew into a dream of having my own restaurant.”
The Carmel food scene features so many wonderful restaurants and cultures, she reflects. "We feel fortunate to be part of it and introduce diners to Thai. Our restaurant is a place where people can come for a casual meal, a family dinner or a special occasion and feel welcomed every time."
In designing Thai Season, Abby set out to create an inviting, contemporary space where every guest can embark on an authentic Thai culinary adventure and confidently explore bold new flavors. For new diners of Thai cuisine, she suggests Pad Thai as an introduction to Thai flavors. She also recommends Tom Yum Soup for anyone who wants something with more depth and traditional Thai character, with a spicy, sour and savory combination that makes Thai cuisine so unique.
“When a customer comes back and tells us, 'I never knew Thai food could taste like this,' that's one of the most rewarding parts of owning the restaurant,” says Abby.
The restaurant's menu has a personal story, too. Many of the flavors, recipes and cooking techniques used in the restaurant connect to Abby’s memories of home and family. “Growing up, I learned that food brings people together, shows love and creates memories. For me, bringing those familiar flavors to the restaurant is a way of sharing a little piece of my home and my culture with guests," she explains.
Balancing Thai flavors comes from experience, not from following a recipe. Abby says that when creating the menu, she thinks about three elements: authentic Thai flavors, guests' cravings and what her staff is passionate about serving. She also pays close attention to customer feedback. “Sometimes a dish becomes popular because guests discover it and tell their friends, and that helps us understand what people want,” she adds.
“Ultimately, every dish needs to meet our standards for flavor and quality before it becomes part of the Thai Season menu.”
Food and hospitality are deeply linked in Thai culture. “In Thailand, when you welcome someone into your home, you want them to feel comfortable and well taken care of. That's the feeling we bring to Thai Season,” says Abby. “I want Thai Season to feel warm, friendly and inviting. Whether someone has eaten Thai food many times, or is trying it for the very first time, I want them to feel comfortable asking questions, exploring new flavors and enjoying the experience.”
For Abby, success isn’t just about serving great food. She and the team at Thai Season are committed to becoming a part of Carmel and helping diners create memories while sharing a little piece of Thailand. “I hope Thai Season becomes a place that people return to because they love the food, and they feel connected to the people, the atmosphere and the experience.”
