Temecula’s Electric Light Parade

Shines with Holiday Spirit

As winter quietly settles into the Temecula Valley, the air takes on a gentle crispness and the scent of pine and cinnamon begins to drift from front porches and cozy kitchens. Holiday lights begin to twinkle from rooftops, shop windows, and tree-lined streets, slowly stitching the city together in strands of warmth and wonder.

Inside homes across Temecula, seasonal boxes are pulled from garages and attics. Ornaments are unwrapped, wreaths are fluffed, and favorite decorations are placed in the same familiar spots — traditions that mark not just the season, but the rhythm of time itself. Calendars are circled in red, not just for Christmas morning, but for the moment when the city gathers as one: the beloved Santa’s Electric Light Parade.

This cherished community celebration has become a seasonal milestone, one that generations look forward to year after year. Families arrive early, staking out their favorite viewing spots along Jefferson Avenue, bundled in scarves and blankets, with thermoses of hot cocoa in hand. Children buzz with excitement, waving glow sticks and handmade signs, while parents and grandparents settle in, ready to make another memory.

As the sun dips below the hills and the first notes of holiday music float through the air, something familiar becomes something extraordinary. Old Town Temecula is transformed into a glowing corridor of color and sound. Hosted by the City of Temecula’s Community Services Department, the parade brings together dozens of local organizations — schools, small businesses, nonprofits, and performers — all united in the spirit of celebration.

The heart of the parade is, of course, Santa Claus himself — arriving in brilliant fashion and greeted by gasps, cheers, and the joyful ring of sleigh bells.

For a few magical moments, children believe, grown-ups smile, and the spirit of the season feels unmistakably close — bright, joyful, and entirely real.
