The 203's Great Connecticut Lobster Roll Tour

If there’s one meal that completely defines a Connecticut summer, it’s a hot buttery lobster roll.

At The Two Oh Three, we’ve spent years exploring the little shoreline towns, hidden marinas, and local seafood spots that make this state feel so special… and finding great lobster rolls has definitely become part of the tradition. From classic seafood shacks on the water to hidden local favorites tucked inside marinas, these are the spots we keep recommending to friends every summer.

So if you’re looking for fresh lobster, coastal views, cold drinks, and an excuse to spend more time by the water, here are some of our favorite lobster roll spots in Connecticut.

Haring's Noank (Noank)

Haring's feels like one of those spots you almost want to gatekeep. Sitting right on the water at the former Ford’s Lobster location, it somehow nails that perfect mix of classic Connecticut seafood shack energy and elevated coastal dining. Their hot buttered lobster roll is packed with fresh lobster, rich without being too heavy, and best enjoyed with a cold drink while boats drift by in the harbor.

Shanks Waterfront Dining (Clinton)

Part of the charm of Shanks Waterfront Dining is that it feels almost hidden, tucked inside a small Clinton boatyard right on the water. The setup alone is worth the trip - fresh seafood served out of an actual converted lobster boat, a big shaded deck out back overlooking the harbor, and boats drifting by all afternoon. Best of all? Somehow it never feels overly crowded, making it one of those rare shoreline spots where you can relax, stay awhile, and soak in the whole experience.

Liv’s Shack (Old Saybrook)

Located inside Harbor One Marina in Old Saybrook, Liv’s Shack is all about hot buttered lobster rolls, BYOB drinks, and long afternoons spent watching boats cruise through the Connecticut River. They’re famously team “no mayo” here... even the staff shirts say it. Being a chef-owned spot, the lobster rolls here feel elevated- from the homemade lemon butter to the fresh Maine lobster and house-made sauces that make the whole experience feel a step above your typical seafood shack.

Heibeck’s Stand (Wilton)

This old-school roadside stand in Wilton has been a Fairfield County summer staple for decades, serving up the kind of nostalgic summer experience people keep coming back for year after year. Known primarily as a classic ice cream stand, Heibeck’s also happens to make a seriously killer lobster roll. Half the charm here is the full experience: ordering at the window, eating outside on a summer night, and grabbing ice cream before heading home.

Copps Island Oyster Shack (Stratford)

With seasonal locations in both Stratford and Norwalk, the vibe here is all about picnic tables, bistro lights, crushed shells under your feet, and boats surrounding you in every direction. Because it’s tied directly to the longtime Copps Island oyster farming operation, the seafood is incredibly fresh. Their lobster roll is best enjoyed with a side of oysters and a drink from the Galley Bar. Somehow it manages to feel equally perfect for a casual family dinner, a summer happy hour, or one of those nights where you accidentally stay way longer than planned.

BRYAC (Black Rock)

BRYAC might not be a traditional waterfront lobster shack, but locals know it’s one of the best hidden lobster roll spots in Fairfield County. Tucked in the heart of Black Rock, the neighborhood staple serves up a hot buttered lobster roll that’s simple, fresh, and affordable. The whole place has that fun neighborhood energy Black Rock is known for, with live music, cold drinks, a busy patio in the summer, and the kind of crowd that makes you want to stay for “just one more”.

Abbott's Lobster (Noank)

No Connecticut lobster roll list feels complete without Abbott’s. Sitting right on the water in Noank, this iconic seasonal seafood shack has been serving generations of summer visitors since 1947. Their famous hot lobster roll absolutely lives up to the hype, but their corn on the cob & seafood chowders are part of the full Abbott’s experience and very much worth saving room for.

Lobster Landing (Clinton)

Lobster Landing is a classic Connecticut seafood staple that feels almost frozen in time. The tiny weathered shack covered in colorful buoys, picnic tables by the water, and BYOB setup give it that old-school shoreline charm people come back for summer after summer. Their hot lobster roll keeps things simple… warm butter, a perfectly toasted roll, and huge chunks of fresh lobster that completely speak for themselves.

Captain Scott’s Lobster Dock (New London)

Captain Scott’s Lobster Dock is a longtime local favorite known for huge portions and casual dockside seating. Their lobster rolls are piled high with fresh lobster, but the menu goes far beyond that... steamed lobster dinners, creamy chowders, fried seafood platters, and classic dockside favorites all make this one worth showing up hungry for.

Guilford Lobster Pound (Guilford)

This family-run spot is owned by one of the last active lobstermen on the Long Island Sound, so fresh seafood is very much the focus here. But honestly, the setting is just as memorable as the food. Seating is set up on a tented dock lined with flowers and gorgeous views of the marsh. Pro tip: it’s cash only, but there’s an ATM on site. And if lobster somehow isn’t your thing, the hot dogs are wildly amazing too.
