The Beauty of Enhancing Confidence

Health, Beauty and Wellness come together at Nu U Med Spa

“Real beauty comes from the inside, from feeling confident and happy,” said Dalasi Owusu from her Nu U Med Spa in The Woodlands. “That is my greatest goal: to help those who come through our doors find that confidence and feel beautiful.” It is a goal that is deeply personal for her.

At age 17, Owusu arrived in Massachusetts from Liberia, Africa with her twin sister, her mother and two siblings. Finding herself in a dramatically different country and culture, she discovered the depth of her own inner strength, along with a determination and compassion that would set the course for her future.

It would lead her into nursing school in Houston and to her husband, Dr. Anthony Owusu. His Next Generation Orthopedic and Spine Institute is next door. Shortly after her first baby was born, she established Dalasi’s House home healthcare services with offices in Houston and San Antonio to offer support and care for those dealing with health challenges. Then, in 2020, with a set of one-year-old twins added to her family, she opened the doors of Nu U Med Spa in The Woodlands. Six months later, work began on a sister spa in Ghana, Africa.

“Health and wellness are universally important, no matter where in the world you are. We all want to age gracefully,” Owusu said. “The key to building a strong program in order to accomplish that is education. Our team works to understand our client’s goals, to assess the best options to meet their expectations and to educate them on every aspect of the process. Everyone is unique and should be treated uniquely. What may be a great product for your friend, may not be the best choice for you.”

From simple facials to minimally invasive polydioxanone (PDO) threading procedures that contour, lift and tighten, Owusu believes everyone can strive to put their very best face forward. Both men and women find benefits from injections of plasma-rich platelets (PRP) for hair growth enhancement and skin rejuvenation as well as Botox and fillers. In an increasingly visual and competitive world, attention to the details of appearance is not just for women, she points out.

With the eye of an artist, Owusu quickly sees how small or more dramatic changes can perfect a face or body. Certified for administering injections, she can craft an effective defense in the war on aging with solutions to counteract weakening muscles, decreased fat pads and the impact of gravity. Whether it’s weight loss or recontouring; IV drips to enhance immunity, libido or energy; or naturally inducing collagen production, Owusu and her staff are on the front edge of the industry.

“Lips are a big focus right now, and we’re seeing new, artistic ways to utilize lip fillers,” she said. “We’re also wanting sharper, more defined jaw lines, and fox eyes are the current trend in beauty, the lifted, elongated look of the eyelid.” A consultation through the NU U Med Spa can determine the steps for achieving these aesthetics.

She points out that the goal is not to change how you look, but to enhance it, to optimize it. “It’s important to believe in yourself enough to invest in yourself, in all aspects of your life.” With plans to expand into more locations in Texas and Africa, Dalasi Owusu sees the NU U Med Spa as a vehicle for her clients to do just that and as a way to invest in her own dreams of helping others realize their best selves, herself included.
