When Erica Millard talks about personal style, it’s not just about the clothes. It’s about confidence, identity, and the joy that comes from seeing yourself in the mirror.
Erica is the owner of House of Colour – Golden, a franchise that helps people discover the colors and silhouettes that make them feel like the best version of themselves. “We use 140 precision-dyed drapes to determine your ideal color palette,” she explains. “It’s all about harmonizing with your skin tone. When you’re in the right colors, you can look and feel your very best.” Each client is categorized into one of four color "seasons"—spring, summer, autumn, or winter—based on their natural coloring, undertones, and contrast levels. “Each season has 36 colors that work beautifully together,” she adds. “Once you know your season, shopping becomes easier, your wardrobe becomes more cohesive, and you start to feel more confident in every outfit.”
In addition to color analysis, Erica offers a personal style service rooted in body geometry and lifestyle. “We take your proportions and personality into account. What do you want to say when you walk into a room? How do you want to feel in your clothes?” she says. “It’s not about hiding or minimizing your shape—it’s about achieving balance and celebrating what’s already there.”
Before launching her styling business, Erica spent years as a literature professor teaching online. “After COVID, I was burned out on the screen,” she shares. “I was turning 40 and craving something new. I found House of Colour, got my own analysis done, and thought—this is it. This is what I want to do.”
For many of her clients, the process is a revelation. “We spend hours together in the studio,” Erica says. “There’s time to really understand who someone is and how they want to present themselves. It’s a journey, not a prescription. My job is to guide, not dictate.”
One of the most empowering parts? Letting go of trends that don’t serve you. “People come in thinking something’s wrong with them if clothes don’t fit right. But it’s not your body’s fault—it’s the clothes. When you find your colors and styles, shopping gets so much easier and enjoyable,” she says. “You stop chasing the ‘universal flattering’ myths and start honoring what works for you.”
Erica encourages clients to take it slow. “You don’t need to throw out your whole closet,” she laughs. “But when you do shop, look for pieces that are an 8, 9, or 10 out of 10. If you don’t want to do a happy dance in the dressing room, it’s not the right piece.”
Above all, Erica believes in making fashion fun again. “This work isn’t about perfection,” she says. “It’s about discovering what lights you up—and giving yourself permission to show up that way every day.”
