Decorate Sugar Cookies Like A Pro

After a life of baking and decorating cakes Maria Suarez, owner of Mardyserts, started making cookies in 2014. Not just any cookie, but highly customized cookies of all shapes and sizes. Maria’s cookies start with a proprietary sugar cookie dough and a silky-smooth royal icing. What she does with these two simple ingredients is magic. 

When asked about what makes her cookies special, Maria says it is their highly customized nature. She communicates with clients to understand exactly what they need and then jumps into the planning mode where she creates drawings and decides how the icing should be applied for the best results. 

Her favorite part is lovingly crafting the final product with colored royal icing using a variety of flavors, sprinkles, glitter, stencils, and even an airbrush for fine shadow details. Maria is currently working on expanding her menu to include Macaroons and Meringue cookies. Step 1

Outline the area in royal icing colored to your tastes and whatever you happen to plan for. Fill the area with the icing that you want to use. Make sure your icing is the correct consistency and is super smooth.

Step 2

Once the area is filled use something small like a toothpick to even out the icing and make it completely smooth. Make sure all layers are dry before adding more icing on top.

Step 3

Once your large areas are filled in with icing, you can get creative with edible glitters, airbrushing, stencils, or just adding sprinkles. Each cookie can be an edible work of art.
