Fall 2026 puts personality back into the wardrobe. Amy Yount, owner of Old Town's AMY Atelier, predicts fur and feather trims, voluminous outerwear, embellishment, rich fabrics and bold color will replace pared-back dressing.
Red is the defining color, from bright cherry to deep merlot. Amy recommends skipping the subtle accent and wearing it head to toe.
Other hot colors include fuchsia, aquatic green, burnt olive, muted clay, and buttery yellow. Chocolate brown, toffee, soft ivory and navy are the season’s most useful neutrals.
The must-have accessory is not a particular bag or shoe. It is suede. In the Valley, suede is also an easy way to make an outfit feel like fall without dressing for temperatures that have not arrived.
The season’s most important investment is the jacket or coat. Amy suggests feminine silhouettes, dramatic texture and Western details. The Western trend continues, but one strong piece is enough.
Fall 2026 runways are also bringing back sculpted waists, peplums, cropped jackets, and relaxed tailoring, while velvet, fringe, gloves and ornate evening bags bring an Art Deco influence after dark.
Amy's best advice for updating a wardrobe? Use a stylist. The smartest update is not always buying more. It is knowing how to make every piece work harder.
