The Heart of Salon Bellezzio

How Shanon Van Dyne balances business, community, and family-first values with a passion for empowering others

“Can I phone a friend?” Shanon Van Dyne asked when questioned about her leadership style. Stylist Brooke Harris answered without hesitation. “She’s like a mom. She always wants the best for you and is so supportive. She doesn’t make you feel like she’s above you or better than you, or like you're less than her. She really wants you to be successful.”

That warm, supportive environment is something Shanon Van Dyne has worked hard to establish at Salon Bellezzio, a hair salon with two locations in Blue Springs. Since taking ownership, she has expanded Salon Bellezzio into a vibrant hub for local beauty and self-care while keeping family and community at the forefront.

Shanon is married to her husband, Jimmy, and has two children, Kaaihue and Kawika. She places immense value on the balance between being a mom, wife, and owner. For her, family always comes first.

"One of the biggest lessons I've learned is that success starts with your priorities,” Shannon explained. “My husband and I chose to do life together, so protecting our marriage and making time for each other has to come first. A strong marriage creates the foundation for a strong family and a successful business. I've also learned that I can't do everything alone. Recognizing the strengths of my team, trusting them with responsibilities, and delegating effectively not only helps the business grow but also allows me to lead with greater purpose both at work and at home."

This balance is what Shanon strives to enhance every day at Salon Bellezzio. It is the support from her family and dedicated stylists that keep the salon running smoothly.

The trust in her team and friendship between stylists has created a culture built on encouragement. While Shanon’s sons and husband help with tasks like remodeling both salons, she wants her stylists to become confident in their craft and to grow at Salon Bellezzio.

“My biggest core value is that my staff succeeds not only behind the chair, but as women,” she said. "I see things in them that they don't see in themselves.”

When it comes to hair care, Salon Bellezzio offers many different services. Haircuts, bang trims, stylings, blowouts, and shampooing are some popular services that the stylists offer. Other hair services include highlights, hair coloring, extensions, scalp treatments, perms, conditioning, and balayages. With growing demands, they have plans to offer lash extensions and spray tans in the near future.

Beyond salon services, the Salon Bellezzio team also gives back to the community by partnering with local foundations. They select a new organization each quarter to support, and organize fundraisers for clients facing health challenges, such as breast cancer treatments.

However, there is more to a stylist’s job than hair care. The stylists at Salon Bellezzio want their connection to be experienced and felt by clients as they walk in the door.

“We make sure to greet clients immediately because that is when they feel the most vulnerable,” Shanon shared. “We work to make sure needs are met, especially when it comes to listening. We hear about the deaths, the divorces, the marriages, and the babies. It’s a rewarding career and we make sure our space is a no judgement zone.”

With each service, Shanon and the team of stylists at Salon Bellezzio are dedicated to helping clients look and feel their best. Built on the foundation of family, friendship, and support, the salon continues to be a place where style and community meet.
