With summer slipping by, now is the time to plan the activities and trips you’ve been hoping to do all summer. Loveland does not fall short in the fun department and with so much to do it can be overwhelming to pick the activities and events your family participates in. Whether your family sticks to what they like or loves to try new things there is truly something for everyone when it comes to summer fun in Loveland!
Outdoor Movie Night
Drive-in movies or movies in the park are some of the highlights when it comes to summer activities! Fickel Park, in Berthoud, hosts a Movie in the Park event every other Thursday featuring family-friendly favorites throughout the summer! Bring comfortable chairs or blankets, all your favorite snacks, and enjoy the free popcorn and snow cones from sponsored businesses that help put on the event. Rather stay home? Setting up a projector in the backyard is a great way to spend quality time with your family!
Water Park/Splash Pad
On those hot August days time spent at a splash pad or water park is necessary! Beat the late summer heat by visiting the numerous splash pads around Loveland, like the one at Loveland Sports Park or at Fairgrounds Park! The water fountains are a fun way to cool down while also being a safe option for small children. Splash Pads are usually near a playground so it’s non-stop fun for the whole day!
Camping Trip
For the outdoorsy families camping is a great way to get out and enjoy the weather and natural Colorado landscape. There are so many wonderful natural areas and options for camping all over Northern Colorado. Camping leads to lasting memories like star gazing, beautiful hikes, and stories around the campfire. Whether it’s rustic tent camping, comfortable camper camping, or luxury cabins, the time out in nature with your family is time well spent!
Boating/Paddle Boarding
A day out on the boat, paddle board, kayak, etc. is a day full of making memories and fun! Loveland has a few lakes to choose from when it comes to a day out on the lake. Life-long memories of learning how to waterski, the kids finally being able to paddle by themselves, and sandbar picnics are made during these family lake days. Don’t own any aquatic vehicles or equipment? Renting is always an option so you can get out and enjoy the water!
Fairs/Carnivals
The end of summer always brings the fun with fairs and carnivals! These events provide family fun all day and night; it’ll be hard to pull your family away from all the excitement! Loveland hosts the Larimer County Fair and it’s a spectacle with live entertainment and the PRCA Rodeo. Don’t miss out on the exciting rides, delicious food, and entertainment that hits this time of year. It’s the perfect way to end the summer with a bang!
Family Picnics
Need a quick way to entertain the family and also provide family memories you’ll cherish? Pack a picnic and head out to your favorite park, a new place with excellent scenery, or out on a hike at the top of a mountain or in a flower-filled meadow. It’s hard to pick a bad picnic place! Something so simple can end up being some of your favorite ways to spend the summer, and maybe even inspire a tradition you continue in the future!
