The Liberty House

Welcoming by design; the firepits, water, metal, nature and exceptional service.

“Memory Makers” is the proud badge of honor in Landmark Hospitality’s Liberty House. We love this place and have created our own great memories celebrating small birthday gatherings with our kids and get-togethers with friends. This unique venue provides an upscale experience with a relaxed atmosphere, that offers iconic views of Manhattan, on the Hudson river, with exceptional cuisine, dedication to service and more!

I was curious to get the insider’s view of what makes The Liberty House so great and had a conversation with Thomas McAteer, COO of Landmark Hospitality. Here is what Thomas had to say. “We don’t serve food, we serve people”. The owner’s vision is to “make people happy.“

When you arrive, you actually enter through the back of the building. The architectural design maximizes the views, designed to bring nature into the dining and banquet spaces which means that the front of the building faces Manhattan and the Hudson River. The views are ever changing from the waterfront sunsets that set the stage for twinkling light that dance on the water to the lightly lit NYC buildings in the background. Even on cloudy days the rain changes the color palate of the views 90% of the time. Liberty House’s signature plush and open landscaping relaxes you and connects you with nature. The extensive lawn allows kids to be kids and run around and play while you relax and dine outside. Signature outdoor dining experiences include group gathering firepits to enjoy drinks, food, and even roast marshmallows. In addition to their indoor dining, they have multiple gathering areas outdoors, including beautiful bar height dining tables, an elevated patio with a pergola and cabanas with textured fabric walls. Adults young at heart, can play with their signature life size scale chess board. The ballroom located on the second floor, offers three full sides of wide-open windows.

They are very much community focused. Located adjacent to Liberty State Park, they are introducing in July a “Nathan’s hot dog stand so that folks taking a stroll through Liberty State Park can get a quick bite to eat and continue to enjoy their walk”, said Thomas. “We will also bring events back in July, which include cooking and cocktail classes on Wednesday and Thursday, ‘Movies in the park’ Friday nights, and live music on Fridays and Saturdays.”

“The most valuable asset is our employees. Daniel Villa, our Banquet Director has been with us for 20 years. This is not typical in the hospitality industry”.

“We have a very approachable menu,” said Thomas. “We aim for a healthy menu with local ingredients, food with no GMO’s or antibiotics. “The quality and presentation of their cuisine shows their commitment to “making people happy”. Their chefs are well known and respected in the industry, have won numerous awards, and are rated Top 20 in New Jersey. It’s an unforgettable culinary and dining experience!

And if you want to want to bring a little of The Liberty House culinary excellence home, Executive Chef Ken Trickilocan shared his delicious Aged Sherry Vinaigrette recipe with us. Bon Appetite!
