Teton Gravity Research (TGR), an action sports media company based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, recently unveiled the trailer for its new film, Magic Hour. The film documents some of the most iconic skiers and snowboarders around the world—from North America to New Zealand—as the team captures awe-inspiring cinematography, groundbreaking action, and mesmerizing landscapes on this global adventure.
“Magic Hour isn’t a particular time of day so much as it is these magical moments that we all experience on any given day, playing in some of the wildest places on the planet,” said Todd Jones, co-director of the film and co-founder of TGR. “We captured some of the most amazing skiing and snowboarding action in some of the most beautiful places in the world this past year, and we can’t wait to share the magic with the world.”
Filmed on location in 2022 in the most epic places across North America, Magic Hour takes viewers from Jackson Hole; to the Chugach and Coast Mountain ranges in Alaska; to the Selkirk, Purcell, Valhalla, and Kootenay ranges in British Columbia; to Montana.
The star-studded cast of Magic Hour will include some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Kai Jones, Nick McNutt, Michelle Parker, Jeremy Jones, Tim Durtschi, Parkin Costain, Amy Jane David, and Bode Merrill, as well as a few more familiar friends. The crew of skiers and riders take you on a journey through next-level terrain in some of the most jaw-dropping spots on the planet just as the sun rises and sets.
Meet Amy Jane David, professional skier and mountain athlete, with her TGR debut in this year’s film. “The magic hour is when everything clicks. Leading up to a magic-hour moment, there is so much work, dedication, and passion for years. Throw in a little magic, a team, self-belief, and beautiful moments can happen.” As Amy shares it, the “magic hour” arrived on the last day for the crew filming the Cooke City, Montana, segment. “We started snowmobiling under the raven full moon as the sun rose. All morning we hit a kicker with bluebird skies and snow sparkles flying, and in the evening we climbed up one of the most iconic peaks to each ski an untouched couloir just before sunset. This experience felt like our magic hour after weeks of tiptoeing around dangerous avalanche conditions and funky snow.”
Magic Hour has recently embarked on an expansive global tour that will bring the movie to more than 150 locations around the world. Most notable of the regions in which the film has been screened in Ketchum, Idaho, at the Argyros Performing Arts Center. However, you can also catch the premiere of Magic Hour in various locations across the nation, ranging anywhere from Logan, Utah, to Girdwood, Alaska.
