The mojito is the quintessential Caribbean-inspired drink. Whether in the hand of Miami-based Sam Axe in Burn Notice or of Ernest Hemingway (likely in legend only) as he wrote, the sparkling cocktail rich in lime and mint is as refreshing as it can be intoxicating.
The basic recipe is simple, but the variants are as numerous as those who love it. Start here, and then add your own twists:
2 sprigs mint (mojito mint or spearmint)
1 key lime
2 oz club soda
2 oz light rum
2 oz simple syrup
Muddle one sprig of mint and the lime in a glass. Add other ingredients and ice to preference, and stir. Garnish with lime wedge and a mint sprig.
