For those closest to you, you want gifts to tell a story of love and memories. The storybook necklaces created by local jewelry designer and sculptor Bonnie Radow, bring the beautiful and emotional stories of bygone years alive. Laden with antique artifacts from around the world, these artisan creations tell stories that can even be customized to you and your loved ones. As a young college student, a romantic at heart, Bonnie is inspired by love letters and antique charms. Each necklace has two to three pages devoted to the theme of the story. One necklace, titled “Journey,” features an antique compass relating the story of a man sending his beloved a compass and telling her, “Keep this compass close, and you will find me.” Another, titled “A Little Gem,” features an antique tintype which was introduced in the mid-19th century as a visual means for sending images of one’s self to loved ones to hold near to their heart. Stories of familial or romantic love and adventure come alive in these unique designs.
Every piece in the collection is designed and created by Bonnie in her Paradise Valley studio.
“Through my travels, I have been drawn to the lives of people of the Victorian era," Bonnie says. "I have collected love letters, pictures and personal items and transformed this collection into jewelry reflecting the lives of the people connected to these artifacts. During my years as an interior designer, many of my clients shared their treasures and stories with me. The collection spans more than 40 years of my life’s journey and reflects many of the experiences I have had along the way. I have made the jewelry into storybooks about the memories and lives of the people I encountered through my collecting. This was such a magical period of time, and it is so inspiring to bring their feelings back and be part of their stories.”
For those interested in telling their own stories, Bonnie is happy to design custom storybook necklaces utilizing clients’ family heirlooms, charms and artifacts. For more information on Bonnie Radow Storybook Necklaces and her entire collection, visit BonnieRadowDesigns.com.
