The Vault of Scottsdale

A Unique Event Space With an Automotive Twist

After 30 years in the healthcare industry, Ron Evans and his wife Pam sold the business they had owned for 14 years and planned to retire.

"I guess I'm just not wired to stay at home," laughs Evans.

After about a month at home, he knew he wanted to do something different. And he knew it needed to involve cars.

"I've been a passionate car enthusiast my entire life," relates Evans. "I'd been kicking this idea around in the back of my head for about ten years."

The reality of those dreams—The Vault of Scottsdale—opened in December 2021.

The Vision of Something Unique

Evans says they designed The Vault to offer three things:

  • Storage for luxury, classic, and exotic automobiles;
  • A unique event space;
  • A way to share a passion for cars with others.

While The Vault focuses on vehicle storage in its 16,000-square-foot space, Evans is excited about being a gathering space for the community and working on that third goal of sharing his passion for cars with others.

"Once a month, we host Cars & Coffee for the public. People can come in and see the facility, bring their cars, have coffee and donuts from the food truck, and hang out with other car enthusiasts."

Evans says the biggest bonus for him is to see the variety of cars in The Vault.

"We have everything," he says. "I'm sitting here looking at a '65 Lincoln Continental convertible. We have modern exotics, and supercars like Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches. We have Mustangs, Corvettes, and Camaros. We have several trucks here. But mostly, if the car is special to the customer, it's special to us, whether it's their dad's '48 pickup or a new Lamborghini."

STORAGE BENEFITS

Evans explains that it is far less expensive to house cars at The Vault of Scottsdale than for individuals to build additional garage space. The Vault handles insurance, security, and utilities, and can keep cars plugged into battery maintainers.

While some members leave cars permanently, others store cars while away for the summer. Evans says they also take in vehicles for special events.

"During Barrett-Jackson [Auto Auction], we had a '32 Ford owned by the Beach Boys and used in their films back in the '60s."

The Concierge service is one of the most significant membership benefits. Evans explains that he treats members' cars with the same care he would treat his own cars.

"We have a company that comes in and details. We can exercise older cars because they don't like to sit. If the car needs to go for an oil change, we can take care of that. We even arrange photographer services."

Evans explains that they can make it all easy, and the owner shows up, drives the car, and enjoys it.

MEMBERSHIPS

There are currently two types of memberships. Social memberships are for those who don't have a vehicle to store but want to use the conference room and lounge and attend private, member-only events. Full membership includes the social aspects along with vehicle storage.

EVENT SPACE

Evans is perhaps most excited about the facility's great event space, which is available to the community. The Vault can host events for 20 to 250, extending to 350 with outdoor tents.

Recent events include a golf apparel company during the Phoenix Open, a supercar unveiling during the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction, a local charity event, and a venue for Phoenix Fashion Week.

Evans is happy to turn his passion into a business and share that passion with others.
