For Paige Moore and her daughter, Nanno, the best adventures do not have to be expensive. In fact, some of their favorite memories have come from discovering the no-cost things to do right here in their own community.
Paige and Nanno are, as Paige puts it, “two peas in a pod.” Whether they are heading to the library, walking through a park, or finding something new to explore, the two have built a sweet rhythm around getting out, learning together, and making ordinary days feel special.
Paige was a stay-at-home mom for the first two years of her daughter’s life, and during that season, she quickly realized how necessary it was to get out of the house. What started as a way to break up the day soon became something much more meaningful. Exploring became a way for Paige and Nanno to connect, learn, and experience the community around them.
Some of their favorite local spots include the Orange Beach Library, Barbers Marina with Bama Stonehenge and the dinosaurs, Gulf State Park, Graham Creek Nature Preserve, and the Railroad Museum in Foley. Each place offers something a little different, whether it is books, nature, imagination, history, or simply room to run and play.
For Paige, motherhood has always been something she deeply wanted, and now she is soaking up the experience. She says her favorite part of being a mom is just that, the experience of it. Raising Nanno, watching her grow, and sharing these little adventures together feels right up her alley.
And Nanno is having the time of her life.
More than anything, Paige wants to teach her daughter that exploring is a good thing. She wants Nanno to grow up curious, confident, and connected to the place she calls home. To Paige, getting to know your community matters. It shows children that adventure is not always far away. Sometimes, it is just down the road.
Their days are a reminder that families do not have to spend a lot to make lasting memories. With a little curiosity and a willingness to try something new, any day can become an adventure.
As Paige would say, explore and create your own experience.
