Some of the most rewarding projects begin without a deadline or a client—just a shared vision and the space to have fun creating. On a warm afternoon in Folsom, that spirit brought a talented group of women together for a vintage-inspired outdoor fashion shoot celebrating style, collaboration, and the beauty of the golden hour. Photographer Jacqueline Pilar shares her inspiration behind the photo shoot.
For a photographer with more than 20 years behind the lens, my deepest joy of the craft often lies in the simple act of “playing.” Originally from Santa Barbara, I spent much of my career focused on fashion editorials, commercial branding, and professional photography. While I enjoy the creativity that comes with those projects, a passion shoot offers a unique kind of creative freedom.
The aesthetic foundation of this shoot relied heavily on the collective talents of our small, all-female team. Rachel Maskell spearheaded the styling, curating wardrobe pieces that felt both contemporary and timeless. Makeup artist Dorina Rotari created a fresh, natural look that complemented the soft outdoor setting. Adding the perfect finishing touch, Rachel’s friend Dilliana generously provided her beautiful vintage car, giving the shoot its nostalgic charm and unmistakable character.
Model Tatum Libert stepped effortlessly into the scene, bringing confidence, grace, and personality to every frame. As the sun dipped low, casting a rich, amber glow across the landscape, the scene came alive. The golden hour light hit the chrome of the vintage car and illuminated Tatum’s features, creating soft, dreamy exposures that felt like stills from an old Hollywood film.
Projects like this are a powerful reminder of why I fell in love with photography over two decades ago. They offer the freedom to experiment and create something simply for the joy of it. We’re delighted to share this collection with the readers of El Dorado Hills City Lifestyle and hope we encourage others to embrace creativity and the beauty that can come from collaboration and connection.
