Precision in Every Detail
Silver Tile & Stone owner Nicolae Andritchi brings two decades of installation experience and a craftsman’s attention to Springfield-area homes.
Tile has long done more than cover a surface. Across centuries, it has carried pattern, color, and craftsmanship into bathhouses, villas, cathedrals and homes. Its styles continue to change, but its purpose remains remarkably consistent: protect a space while giving it character.
That tradition continues in southwest Missouri through craftspeople like Nicolae Andritchi, owner of Silver Tile & Stone. With 20 years of experience, Nicolae approaches each project with a straightforward belief: quality installation still matters.
Bathrooms, in particular have taken on a larger role in the home. Once treated primarily as functional spaces, they are increasingly designed to provide a few quiet moments away from the pace of the day. Texture, natural materials, carefully planned lighting and detailed tile work can transform an ordinary bathroom into a more personal retreat.
Subway tile remains a classic choice, while natural stone, oversized porcelain, custom shower niches and more detailed patterns allow homeowners to create spaces that feel distinctive. Yet regardless of the material or design, the finished result depends heavily on what cannot always be seen at first glance: preparation, precision and installation.
That is where Nicolae has built his career.
“I’ve been doing this for 20 years,” he says.
His work began in the Pacific Northwest and eventually took him to California, where he continued developing his skills in tile and residential construction. His move to Missouri began with a family connection. Five years ago, a cousin relocated to the Springfield area and encouraged Nicolae to visit.
In 2022, Nicolae made the trip. He toured a home with a local real estate agent and began recognizing the possibilities the area offered.
The lower cost of living appealed to him, but so did the demand for experienced tradespeople.
“We need professional installers in this area,” he says. “I see a lot of work locals need and want to help people be able to afford projects.”
That practical perspective shapes Silver Tile & Stone. Although the company handles flooring, drywall and related work, Nicolae estimates that nearly 80 percent of its projects involve tile. Bathrooms remain a particular focus because they require both technical precision and careful planning.
Tile installation involves more than selecting a pattern and applying material to a wall or floor. Substrate preparation, waterproofing, measurements, spacing, cuts, transitions and finishing details all contribute to the durability and appearance of the completed space. Small inconsistencies can become highly visible once an entire wall or shower is finished.
Nicolae believes that experience helps him anticipate those details before they become problems.
Efficiency is an important part of his approach. Home renovation can be disruptive, particularly when a bathroom or other frequently used area remains unfinished. Nicolae has invested in tools, systems and experience that allow him to keep work moving without treating speed as a substitute for quality.
He understands that homeowners want the project completed, but they also want confidence that it has been completed correctly.
For Nicolae, the work is personal. Each carefully measured surface, clean transition and precisely cut edge reflects the person who installed it.
“You have to take pride in what you do,” he says.
That sense of responsibility extends to helping clients understand their options. Through relationships with area material suppliers, Nicolae works with homeowners as they consider materials, installation requirements, project costs and long-term value.
The most expensive material is not automatically the best choice for every room, just as the most visually striking design may not be the most practical. A successful project balances appearance with how the space will be used, cleaned and maintained over time.
That long-term perspective is appropriate for a material associated with permanence. Well-installed tile can remain part of a home for decades, enduring changing styles and daily use while continuing to serve its original purpose.
For Nicolae, that kind of longevity begins long before the final tile is placed. It begins with preparation, careful decisions and pride in the finished work.
