'Tis the season to give to others

You can change lives in Troy this holiday with a generous year-end donation

PAGE ONE:

Every afternoon when our teenage boy comes home from school, we’re reminded of the countless people who sacrifice for the benefit of others.

That’s because he’s intellectually and developmentally disabled, and it takes a community of teachers, parapros, therapists, counselors and so many other helpers to ensure he thrives. Some are paid, some are volunteers, but all reside within the community of nonprofit organizations that enrich our lives.

Because of this, we dreamed of finding ways through this magazine to support the nonprofits in our community. To tell their stories, point to their successes, share the smiles of their clients and spotlight their volunteers and staff.

Naturally, we have a heart for groups that provide services and programs for the physically and developmentally disabled, but that’s only one area of need in the Troy community. The desperate need for services for seniors, children, single adults and so many more seems so overwhelming.

Your gift makes it so much better. You change lives. Your generosity allows the unsung heroes at Troy nonprofits to provide one more child with safe after-school care or one more struggling senior with meals for the week.

The select nonprofits in this article are 501(c)3 nonprofits based in Troy – but they’re not the only ones. Whether you choose one of these organizations or others, we hope you will consider an end-of-year gift that will make life just a little bit better in Troy.
