For nearly thirty years the Great Rocky Mountain Toy Company has been a staple of Bozeman's historic downtown. Surviving economic downturns, exponential city growth, the 2010 Main Street blast, and the global pandemic, the Toy Company stands as a testament to quality and lasting independent business.
From the life-size Playmobil man welcoming shoppers out front to the delightful dinosaur cave inside, the Toy Company brings a sense of magic and wonder back to toy shopping. Decorated with colorful murals of Main Street’s finest buildings, Gallatin’s various winding rivers, and even a working replica of Bridger Bowls' original chairlifts there is always something new to discover. An interactive model of the USS Enterprise hangs from the ceiling, while around the corner, an elaborate marble run is on display. Each wall is decorated with some of the valley’s notorious wild inhabitants: a moose flying kites from his paddles, a squirrel hiking Mount Baldy, a bear snowboarding, and even a fox with ski patrol carting a wounded squirrel down the slopes. Through it all, two beautiful model trains run in and out of painted mountains and across beautifully crafted steel bridges, to the surprise and delight of shoppers.
The staff has painstakingly chosen unique and interesting toys, dolls, apparel, puzzles, books, games, and so much more geared towards all ages, and interests.
New owner Sam Rickenbaugh, a Bozeman native and longtime customer brings his own flair and perspective to the store. Growing up with fond memories of visiting the store for a new toy that would bring hours of imaginative play, Sam hopes to pass on that same sense of play to a new generation. He and his team are excited to continue the long-standing relationship that The Rocky Mountain Toy Company has with the community of Bozeman.
Stroll down Main Street with children young and old and take in the wide variety of toys and games the Toy Company has to offer. Discovery and bath toys for babies, trains, and critters for toddlers; art, science, and craft kits for young artists; Legos, building blocks, and dolls for the creators; puzzles, and fidgets for the thinker, and games for all.
