True Food Kitchen

As we all emerge from the holiday season, we are craving comfort food to fill our hearts and souls. Thank goodness there is a locale to do just that! True Food Kitchen, which opened in the winter of 2019, has been serving anti-inflammatory food which is easily digested and promotes wellness.

“We have 39 locations around the country and are opening four more in the coming year,” says Christine Ferris, director of marketing. “The concept of True Food Kitchen was founded in 2008 by Dr. Andrew Weil, an integrative medicine doctor. He founded the anti-inflammatory diet, which promotes eating a wholesome diet of nutrient-dense ingredients that positively impact the way you feel.

Ingredients are sustainably sourced, and the partners they buy food from are the top of the top. All meat is grass-fed and hormone free. Wines are all organic, biodynamic or sustainable from the finest growers in California. Every ingredient that goes into what is on your plate is clean.

They also can specifically strategize with you to adapt foods to whatever diet you follow, from vegetarian, paleo, carb or gluten free. The menu is fundamentally based on science, which ensures all its “craveable” dishes and drinks work to increase the longevity of people and the planet.

“Our menu continues to change with the seasons, and we don’t sacrifice taste for flavor,” Christine says. “Eating fruits and vegetables that are in season means you get the most nutrients and they are the most flavorful.”

Their mission is to inspire people to eat better, feel better and ultimately live better. To further offer their foods to more people, they have two locations that allow people to order to go, one in Tempe, Arizona, and one in San Jose, California.

This month, they are introducing a few new winter dishes to keep people healthy and strong, delicious and detoxifying. This includes a new Winter Immunity Soup made with edamame beans to help you feel full, bean sprouts, carrots and more. They are also offering a Daily Reset Package for the month of January that people can order, which includes juices, kale sides and more. They are keeping their top-selling menu available.

“This includes lots of vegetables, lots of warming foods. Our menu is comprised of favorites with a healthy twist,” she says. “For example, regular Chicken Parmesan can be over 1,000 calories. Ours is grilled chicken breast made with less breading and a side of seasonal vegetables, which reduces calories. Our pizza is made with house-made flax dough. Think of all these as comfort food with a healthy twist.”

True Food Kitchen emphasizes community and holds seminars and classes. Each restaurant has its own chef-led culinary team who takes ingredients, spices and unique finds to bold new heights, with an eye for peak-season freshness, bright colors and creative takes on classic favorites.
