If you’ve ever stayed at Mountain Shadows Resort and wish you didn’t have to leave, here’s your chance. Mountain Shadows Resort Residences offer all of the amenities of belonging to the resort but with the perks of private home ownership.
The luxury condominiums have been available to local buyers since 2018, with a few residences still left to choose from.
“There are a limited number of units still remaining and, based on pace, we expect them to all be sold in the next 12 months,” says Jesse Thompson, area director of sales and marketing.
Mountain Shadows Resort Residences feature one-, two- and three-bedroom condominium options, with floorplans ranging from 1,000 to 3,410 square feet. The residences are designed for people seeking a “lock and leave” resort-style lifestyle. Prices range from $840,000 to $4.1 million.
“Westroc has the most experience developing this type of product [a condo hotel] in Arizona. Our experience with other developments really drove this project and the floorplans,” explains Tim Hundelt, a real estate agent with Mountain Shadows’ condominium hotel sales. “We tend to have two buyer profiles: the owner that wants luxury vacation, with the option of income, and the second being the full-time resident that enjoys all of the amenities of the resort. We have large expansive penthouses that span the full width of the building and studio residences that are the perfect for owners who make frequent trips. We also have many options in-between to cover everyone’s needs.”
Perhaps the most attractive features of the residences, besides the scenic backdrop, are the perks that come from living at a resort. Direct access to the entire Mountain Shadows property encourages owners to take advantage of benefits such as home meal delivery, housekeeping, valet and concierge services. There is also access to the wellness-centric Citizens Club, and the only 18-hole, par-3 golf course in Arizona, according to Mountain Shadows.
“Golf is one of our best amenities,” Thompson says. “The course is beautiful, fun to play, and rounds take less than three hours to play. The resort offers a plethora of events and activities every month, too; from beverage seminars to astrology classes, yoga to cooking lessons, there is something for everyone.
“The most appealing amenity to me is having the ability to have food and beverage delivered to your doorstep 24-hours-a-day via room service, and the option of having housekeeping services for an additional fee,” he continues. “Plus having a guard-gated community entrance with private underground parking and garages available, all with direct elevator access to the residences, is always a nice touch.”
“Mountain Shadows Resort Residences is the only three-story building in the center of the town of Paradise Valley,” adds Hundelt. “Given that the town is known for its austere zoning guidelines, I do not see this opportunity happening again.”
Hundelt adds that the condominiums are a unique find locally.
“Mountain Shadows resort condominiums is the only project in the state of Arizona on the market now that comes fully furnished up to and including linens, kitchenware, and artwork,” he shares. “It is truly unique in that it is the only product that you can purchase and move into immediately.”
With so many housing options to choose from in today’s local real estate market, there are many reasons why locals may opt for resort style condominiums, Thompson says.
“I believe there are reasons for several different types of buyers in this environment,” he explains. “We have witnessed many people selling their large-scale homes and downgrading to a more manageable household size, or choosing several different smaller homes in favorite travel destinations to provide more freedom in their lifestyle. We have witnessed younger buyers purchasing units to have a more active lifestyle within a resort setting, yet in the middle of what is primarily a large home/acreage community such as Paradise Valley. And the most appealing aspect of our residences is the option rental program, where residents can elect to place their qualified unit, or part of their unit if multi-bedroom, into the resort accommodation inventory and earn revenues from guest stays.”
