Eager to shed your winter-weary blues? Shake them off at the pinkest party on earth—Macon’s International Cherry Blossom Festival happening from March 21st - 30th. Hannah Theus, festival director of marketing, believes it’s worth the drive for Fayette County residents to enjoy the festivities set against the backdrop of 350,000 blooming cherry trees. “As the congressionally-recognized ‘Cherry Blossom Capital of the World,’ we love welcoming our neighbors and guests,” she said. This year’s peak bloom date of March 23rd is also the birthday of William Fickling Sr., the community leader who propagated the Yoshino cherry tree in his backyard for the community to enjoy.
