Two Journeys, One Mission: Staying Alive

Inspired Closets, the story of how it began

Imagine that you’ve found an amazing idea and partnered with your long time friends to start a business. It’s an exciting time in your life. You’ve ridden this rodeo before and you’re looking forward to the amazing success and invigorating challenges of learning a new business; then; as you’re all set to launch the business you’re diagnosed with Sarcoma; a rare cancer. That is exactly what Matt and Lisa Uhl experienced when Matt was diagnosed with Sarcoma. In 2021 Matt began two paths at once; one a very familiar journey paved with the stones laid from walking on a road leading to previous victories; sprinkled with the seeds of success that grew flowers and trees bearing the fruit of confidence and the other, a dark path of unknown leading down the road of an unsure destiny with a possibility of an unfavorable reality. Matt and his wife Lisa are no strangers to starting and running a successful business. They have years of experience in assisting the residents of the gulf coast with attaining window treatments and more. But cancer in the form of Sarcoma was something new, frightening, and time consuming.

It all started when Matt noticed a very small knot behind his leg. As most of us typically do, he ignored the knot. As time passed the knot grew to the size of a golf ball.  The knot could no longer be ignored. Matt sought medical help and after a series of examinations and tests, he was diagnosed with Sarcoma cancer. He was now faced with the challenge of weekly chemo treatments, 6 hours away all while the train of the business launch was gaining momentum and about to hit full speed.

This challenge didn’t stop Matt from moving forth. Today he is well and the business, Inspired Closets, is thriving. Overcoming one of the most trying times in his life, Matt has persevered.
