Mallow Run Winery has hosted an Artist Series Wine project annually since 2012 for which a label is selected from among local artists' entries to display on a select bottle of wine. In honor of the winery's 20th anniversary this year, special wine label artwork was solicited for creations inspired by Mallow Run Winery's community, tasting room, history or special memories.
The artist with the 2025 winning, wrap-around label design is Megan Crocker, an artist who resides in Greenfield. "I'm super happy about this. It's a huge honor," she assures.
She says her parents happily frequent Mallow Run in Bargersville, and encouraged her to enter the label competition.
The winery's staff held a formal recognition for Megan at their Handmade & Heartfelt Festival at The Sycamore on Nov 9, with her signing bottles and selling prints of this work and others she has done.
Megan graduated during August 2020 at Indiana University-Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in drawing and illustration from the Herron School of Art + Design. She accepts commissioned artwork and also works as a youth services library assistant at Hancock County Public Library. She says she excels in working with traditional media, such as watercolor, graphite, charcoal and acrylic, but also is proficient with digital media.
Additionally, this self-professed "library lady" assembles lesson plans to teach art classes to community youths, including girl scouts.
For the Mallow Run Winery label competition, each artist could submit up to three, original works that were completed within the last five years, with an unframed size minimum 20-inch longest side, maximum 36-inch longest side. Acceptable media were two-dimensional works of oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel/colored pencil, pen and ink, charcoal or mixed media. No computer art, photographs, sculptures or reproductions were allowed.

Megan, also known in art circles as Scorptopi (combination of being born a Scorpio in November and her favorite animal being octopi), relishes her winning label surrounding a white wine. She named her 15-by-20-inch acrylic creation "Sunset at Mallow."

Mallow Run Winery is nestled within a family farm, which provides a cozy, rustic ambiance, often with live music. The group's 20th Anniversary Wine Series includes Moscato – 20th Anniv, as a return of a fan favorite with tropical mango, apricot and fresh peach flavors to make this a perfect wine around the pool or around the campfire, as well as Red Blend – 20th Anniv, a smooth, fruit-forward dry red made from an old favorite, Chancellor grapes. It has flavors of cherry and red raspberry shine through with no oak influence.
