For Rob Khalil, owner of Havana Nights Cigar Lounge, the vision has been a dream in the making for over 15 years. Throughout many years of interest in cigars, he dedicated himself to finding the perfect lounge for his business model. Small unique locations have always held special appeal for him. “I always liked the little boutique places,” he recalls. “Somewhere cozy, classy, and welcoming. I wanted to bring that here.”
The establishment combines classic sophistication with contemporary refinement. According to Khalil, the atmosphere requires a combination of modern elements with traditional ones. “That’s how I planned it—perfectly blended, a mix between a classy, old Los Angeles style and a modern look, seamlessly combined.”
According to Khalil, hospitality is the foundation for developing sophistication. His primary concern is providing white-glove service to all guests, and he ensures that customer service is the biggest priority.

According to Khalil, today’s people sit together but spend their time using their phones instead of interacting with each other. “Here, people talk to each other. Friendships form. That’s what I wanted to create.”
The bar space maintains the distinctive elements introduced by Khalil. The bartenders develop two original cocktails each while receiving recognition for their creations through menu name listings. For example, a traditional Old Fashioned with a warm cinnamon twist delivers both familiar and surprising elements to the drink.
Guests who visit Havana Nights for the first time truly respond to the comfortable ambiance Khalil has crafted. “A lot of people tell me it feels like home—so comfortable and relaxing. One time, I was joking with the bartender that we should get a blanket and a pillow for a guest who was so relaxed, he was almost falling asleep on the couch.”
Looking ahead, Khalil focused on preserving the atmosphere that has defined Havana Nights since its opening. “If I can keep it at this level,” he said, “I’m happy.”
