Unique Clothing and Gifts for Children

Find fun and high-quality items for the little ones in your life

Running her own business is a lot of work, but for Kelsey Finger, owner of Patch in Nashville, it gives her the flexibility she needs to be there for her two boys, 7-year-old Nelson and 4-year-old Walt. “That's how I ended up in the retail business,” she says. “I wanted more time with my kids, more flexibility in my schedule, all while working for myself.” Living in Green Hills, she also appreciates the short commute to work.

Patch carries high-quality children’s clothing and merchandise. “It feels curated and cohesive, but in a modern boutique setting,” says Kelsey. “I go to markets in New York and Dallas to source lines and brands that aren't being carried anywhere else [locally]. You can find some really classic quality pieces, but also lines that feel a bit more fresh and different.”

As the seasons change, so does the inventory. For Valentine's Day, there are puzzles, books, games and more. “People love Valentine’s pajamas and maybe a little happy gift for kids on Valentine’s morning,” she says.

Heading into spring, there’ll be lots of color, fun patterns and prints like florals and fruits. “Spring might be my favorite collection yet,” says Kelsey. “I also stock up on Easter-themed books and gift items for filling Easter baskets. And, of course, Easter pajamas!”

Patch also hosts great events throughout the year, which are listed on its website. “We plan to have a swim pop-up this spring with a fun new swim line, a photography event this winter, and more,” she says.

When Kelsey is not working, she focuses on spending time with her boys and husband Robert. “We're sort of in the thick of it with kids' activities,” says Kelsey.

They also love spending time on the family farm in Alabama. “It's quiet,” she says. “We go there to unplug and relax and the kids can play outside. It's been in my husband's family for 30 years and he spent his childhood there.  It's super special to be able to do that with our kids as well.”
