Values That Drive Work and Service

Honesty, integrity, and a strong work ethic shape how Jeff Anderson and Scott Kelly of Legacy Wealth Partners serve clients and their community

Now colleagues through Legacy Wealth Partners, Jeff Anderson and Scott Kelly trace their friendship back to serving alongside one another for years through Scouting America. The men served as Den Dads together and combined watched three sons go on to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. They also served together through a program that Scott brought to local elementary schools called Watch D.O.G.S., which encouraged local dads to be more active in their kids’ schools.

Through their time volunteering and taking an active role in Scouts, the men realized that many of the skills the kids learn are applicable in everyday life, especially in the business world. “A few of the enduring principles of Scouts are to do the right thing daily, be trustworthy and honest, and have the integrity to do what you say you will do,” shares Jeff. “Another big part of Scouting revolves around relationships. The same principles are true in our business; I’ve known a lot of my clients for 20-25 years and have built a relationship based on trust, honesty, and integrity.”

For Jeff and Scott, their roles as financial advisors are intricately intertwined with their personal commitments. “At Legacy Wealth Partners, we truly believe that values matter, and we live by ours every day. We also emphasize transparency, ethical practices, and reliability in all client relationships,” says Scott. “For me, those same values are what drive my community involvement, whether that’s mentoring youth through Scouting America, serving families and kids through Watch D.O.G.S., or supporting youth-focused service projects through Kiwanis. We try to show up in the spaces where leadership, consistency, and presence matter most.”

Three primary services Jeff and Scott provide for clients include management of money, advice based on years of experience, and creating individualized financial plans. They streamline the concepts by using the acronym M.A.P.  “First, we manage money through portfolio management, primarily using individual stocks and bonds, not mutual funds. We like to know what we own; it gives us clarity,” says Jeff. “Second, we provide expert advice. As clients are going through life, they are often confronted with financial decisions, and we want our clients to make the best decisions. Although it may seem like each individual decision may not matter all that much, cumulatively they play a large role in success. Third, financial planning is imperative because it gives clients perspective on where they are at and where they are going. It also helps us to understand what they are trying to accomplish with their wealth.”

As they work with clients to reach financial goals, Jeff and Scott do so with a strong sense of integrity and stewardship on behalf of their clients. “As we're talking to clients and helping them with different questions and dilemmas, we often ask ourselves what we would do if we were in their situation,” says Jeff. “Then, we apply our experience and knowledge in the financial world to make informed decisions.”

The concept of stewardship is paramount in their roles as financial advisors and reflects why Jeff and Scott continue to pour into the local community as well.  “The advisory work strengthens my service, and the service reinforces the purpose behind the advisory work. They’re two expressions of the same calling,” shares Scott. “Whether I’m helping Scouts build confidence on the trail, greeting students at the school doors as a Watch D.O.G., or partnering with families on long-term financial planning, it all stems from that same desire to serve with purpose. It is amazing the impact father figures, mentors, and male role models can have, especially when they choose to be present, available, and encouraging. That message resonates deeply with me.”
