Chic Cafe In Clayton

Colleen's Serves Up Housemade Pot Pies And Baked-From-Scratch Cookies, Pastries

Colleen Thompson admits she found her passion for culinary arts during her childhood years, and now diners delight at her cafe's creative, fulfilling delectables, as her lifelong love for cooking and baking continues.

It all started when Colleen says she was asked to create 200 decorated cookies for a charitable event. "People called and wanted to order my cookies, that's how the business began. The company grew from a small operation to a retail bakery to a cafe."

From the quaint location of 7337 Forsyth Blvd., this Clayton cafe serves coffee, breakfast, lunch and sweets, along with catering, too. A grab-and-go option is a quiche. Sample breakfast items are eggs, biscuits with jam, avocado toast, oats, bagels, waffles, sweet potato hash, Croque Monsieur and breakfast fried rice. Sample lunch selections are sandwiches, salads, savory pies, rice bowls and sides. They also offer beer, wine and mimosas.

Colleen's custom creations are signature shortbreads and cookie cakes, while sweets reflect cookie jar cookies, French macarons, bar cookies, muffins, scones, croissants and pastries.

"We take pride in, and are known for, all our items being baked or made from scratch, from our dressings to each individual cookie," Colleen says.

Special orders are "from your imagination to a beautiful reality," as Colleen likes to state. Shortbreads are ordered for weddings, baby showers, celebrations and corporate events to holidays, sporting events, personalized reasons and 'just because' type of life moments.

Colleen's is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day but Tuesdays.
