Lord Nickens Mural

629 N. Market St.
Created by muralist Jack Pabis, this mosaic tribute celebrates Civil Rights leader Lord Nickens. Installed beside the Bernard W. Brown Community Center, the piece features symbolic birds and a meaningful quote honoring Nickens’ lasting impact on Frederick’s community and history.

Muralist Gera Lozano transformed this towering brick wall into a vibrant celebration of nature. Featuring flowers, Maryland’s Black-Eyed Susan and soaring blue herons, the mural reflects movement, growth and the beauty found throughout Maryland. 

“Earthbound” Mural

Created by William Cochran in 1988 as part of the “Angels in the Architecture” series, this mural blends fantasy and realism. An aging angel and resting pheasant appear woven into the architecture, playing with space, time and imagination.
