As the old saying goes, “You can’t re-wear an outfit once social media has seen it.” But if that’s true, it means we have to Poshmark every look after we’ve worn it once, right?! Wrong! With some outside-the-bargain-box thinking and a few minutes, we can freshen up a style and make your fave look last.

To create longevity within your closet, you need to focus on how you style pieces differently each time you wear them. This is where you bring your own personal spin to a piece and show off your inner fashionista. Annnnd this also helps me justify a purchase. If I can style one dress in four different ways, it’s technically a quarter of the cost, right? Isn’t girl math the best?!

So join me as we visit three of my favorite Boerne boutiques, and I’ll show you how to assemble a great outfit—then spin it into another fabulous look!

Classic Denim Dress
Ella Blue | shopellablue.com
Whether you’re on TikTok or not, you’ve seen the trending videos where influencers show an outfit completely blank versus fashionably styled—so that’s what I’m doing here!

Imagine a Tate McRae bop looping in the background as we show how even this great maxi denim dress is pretty plain on its own. But it totally transforms into an on-trend, springy look when I add the platform sandals, an oversized boyfriend shirt, and vintage-style sunnies. Full disclosure: I actually loved this look so much that I purchased it myself!

One Skirt, Two Ways
The Dienger Trading Co. | thediengertradingco.com
When you have a statement piece in your closet—like a bold pair of heels, a blingy jacket, or a summery, printed skirt like this one—it’s basically begging to be worn again and again. That’s where styling comes in!

With this paisley wrap skirt, I chose to show it in two simple ways: dressed up and dressed down. The more casual style with sandals and minimal jewelry can work for a shopping day with friends. Meanwhile, the dressier look—complete with a pair of wedges and layered jewelry— gives it that elevated “I’m-going-to-dinner-on-vacation” vibe.

Trendy Coral Dress
The Pearl Antler | thepearlantler.com
This dress is a great example—when a piece has a lot of great things going on, you can refresh the look with just a few select pieces.

This coral dress is totally on trend by itself because of the bow details, so I chose to keep the styling simple. The bows provide enough oomph on their own, so you don’t want to get crazy with the accessories—I kept it simple with sandals and high-end turquoise earrings. This dress is super easy for church when styled like this, but it can also be perfect with a dressy sandal for a shower or grad party, or with a simple pair of casual sneakers for brunch with friends!
