Wellness Weekend

People often think about wellness in terms of physical health — nutrition, exercise, weight management, etc., but clearly it is so much more. Wellness is a holistic mix of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, fueling the body, engaging the mind, and nurturing the spirit. Although striving for physical health is important, it’s more about living life fully, and becoming the best kind of person that your potentials, circumstances, and fate will allow.  I recently read about the 5 Pillars of health.  We’ve all heard about these “pillars” in some shape or form, but how easy we forget!   The 5 Pillars include:

1.      Better sleep to grow your creativity

2.     Better nutrition to strengthen immunity

3.     More movement to boost vitality

4.    Enhanced mindfulness to deepen serenity

5.     Highlighted sense of purpose to drive more solidarity

I recently experienced a weekend to myself at Suncadia, and the alignment with the 5 Pillars of health couldn’t have been more on point.  A relaxing weekend away and some peaceful downtime does wonders.  As the pandemic lingers into its third year, it’s not surprising that we increasingly look to our vacations to help work on our mental and physical wellness.  And thankfully, hospitality is also doing its part to serve the needs of the whole person.

Suncadia Resort, situated at the base of the Cascade Mountains, is just 80 miles from the hustle and bustle of Bellevue, and an easy basecamp to help you get in tune with your “5 pillars”.  For me, as a mom of little ones, a quiet morning journaling after a good nights sleep, followed by a peaceful spa experience, a healthy meal cooked by someone else, surrounded by incredible natural beauty, seems to do the trick.  Check out Suncadia Resort to put together your own wellness weekend.
