We always invite people who need a place to spend Thanksgiving to join us. Every year the view around the table is unique and treasured. There's the family you're born into, and then there's the family you create along the way!

For us, it’s the No Rules Bean Feast. Since 2007, our Thanksgiving menu is just everyone’s favorite foods. Wings? Cool. Poutine? Sure. Crab legs? We got you. Empanadas? Yes. Credit to Veruca Salt for the title of this fest.

In my family, we always have a variety of desserts since everyone likes something different. My mom is an excellent cook and always goes above and beyond. We’ll have pecan, chess, pumpkin, and chocolate pies and lots of other goodies. It’s become a tradition to have a piece of everything to see which is best!

A lot of our family lives in Indiana, so every other year our sweet family of four drives to Indiana for Thanksgiving. We all gather around the table, pray over our meals, and share wonderful stories. We enjoy watching family videos, football, playing board games, going for morning walks, and competing as family on a fun series of table tennis games!

I proudly uphold my Indigenous heritage each Thanksgiving by weaving tales of our ancestors’ resilience into the day. Through these stories, I instill in my children the unwavering strength of our Chickasaw and Oglala Sioux people, ensuring they carry forward the legacy of our warriors and their protective spirit.
