Creating Timeless Spaces with Wil and Faye Interiors

In West Austin's thriving creative culture, Brooklynn Carney, Founder + Interior Designer, and Ana Miceva, Interior Designer, of Wil and Faye Interiors, bring a unique perspective to interior design. Centered around the power of transparency, trust, and open communication, Wil and Faye Interiors specializes in creating spaces that are as unique as the person it's crafted for. The studio's name, a tribute to Brooklynn's grandparents, reflects her deep passion for design and storytelling.

"Our design process is like a very long conversation, but the good kind, like the ones where you lose track of time catching up with old friends," Brooklynn shares. This approach allows them to craft spaces that truly reflect their clients' personalities and styles, resulting in aesthetically pleasing and deeply meaningful living spaces.

"I started Wil and Faye Interiors from San Angelo, TX, and took on projects in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, and Austin, and everywhere in between when I was starting out." Reflecting on the early days of Wil and Faye, she shares, "As we continued to grow, I knew I had to move out of San Angelo and plant my little seed of a company in one place - and Austin had my heart from the beginning. The creative culture and energy in this city support and encourage designers to think and work freely as if rules aren't a thing anymore." This local influence is evident in their unique designs, showcasing a blend of global inspiration and local craftsmanship.

Brooklynn's move from San Angelo to Austin has greatly shaped Wil and Faye's success, "I started the firm just a few years ago when e-design and virtual meetings were our primary avenues. The ability and normality of working remotely allows our team to change up our daily environments to ones that inspire us and let our creative minds wander and grow. It also enables us to travel more and experience new cultures that shape and enhance our designs."

Before any design work starts, Brooklynn emphasizes their commitment to functional and sustainable spaces tailored to each client's lifestyle, "We have in-depth conversations with our clients about how they live, work, and play, along with what they find to be beautiful." Ana, expanded on this approach adding, "We prioritize adaptability and longevity in furniture selection and stay informed about the newest developments in sustainable design practices."

One particular design project that stands out is a basement they completed in Salt Lake City where the client had a large, finished 2-room basement that was not well-lit and served no function. "By the time we were done, our client had a library with a reading nook, a private and well-lit office, and an entertainment space with plenty of comfy seating. She was ecstatic that we were able to take a 'waste of space' that caused her stress and anxiety and turn it into a multifunctional space she loved to be in, and one she couldn't wait to host friends and family in," Brooklyn explained.

Impactful design does not need to be tied to large investments as Ana suggests, "It’s not about how much something costs, and making a few intentional and thoughtful changes can go a long way." In line with the iconic German-American architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Ana embraces his famous words, stating, "Less is more!"

"The best way to make a space that reflects one person’s styles is to include that person in the design - every step of the way." - Brooklynn Carney, Founder of Wil and Faye Interiors
