We all know how much our pets mean to us. The give us comfort, joy, peace, and well... sometimes a good laugh. Que our new friend Willie. We just know you're going to love him too.
Willie Nelson is not just any dog. He is a dog with a big personality, a loyal heart, and a daily routine that proves he is absolutely living his best life.
For his owner, Melissa McLarty, Willie is simply the bee’s knees. He is funny, outgoing, and full of charm, with a personality that makes him impossible not to love. From morning coffee with his mom to ball time in the yard, Willie brings joy wherever he goes.
Willie comes by his memorable name honestly. His parents, Johnny and June Cash, were two Goldendoodles in love, and Willie is the sweet product of that pairing. Now seven years old, he seems to carry that loveable spirit into everything he does.
Although Willie lives on the water, do not let that fool you. He may enjoy a good boat ride, but he is no fearless water dog. Melissa says Willie is terrified of the swimming pool and the bay, especially when it comes to water he cannot see through. For all his confidence and charm, Willie has a scaredy-cat side too.
What Willie does love is routine. He loves his owners, people who throw the ball, swinging, and spending time outdoors. But perhaps his favorite activity of all is taking the elevator down to the yard. Not just once or twice, either. Willie enjoys this special trip about seven times a day, and he even shows Melissa exactly where she should sit.
His favorite toys are his Chew Kong Balls, and Melissa says she orders around 16 of them every month. Willie loves to hide them throughout the yard, burying his treasures like only he knows the perfect spot. For Willie, a good day includes exercise, fresh air, and a little strategic toy hiding.
Melissa has had Willie since he was just eight weeks old. Early on, she and her husband sent him to K-9 Academy Training in Nashville, Tennessee, where he completed behavior training. Melissa says those lessons stuck. Even years later, Willie still carries those skills into his daily behavior, which is one of the reasons he is such a good boy.
Of course, Willie has a mischievous streak too. His favorite human treat to steal is butter, and Melissa says his butter obsession has definitely gotten him more than just attention a time or two.
Willie also holds a special title as the very first customer of local favorite Rover Runner. With his love for movement and adventure, it is no surprise that Willie enjoys getting in his exercise.
From boat rides and ball chasing to elevator trips and buried treasures, Willie Nelson has built a life full of joy, routine, and personality. He is funny, affectionate, a little dramatic, and completely adored.
And according to Melissa, that is exactly what makes Willie one of a kind.
