Why did you choose Buckhead when you moved to Atlanta in 2015?
We originally bought in Vinings. We made the move to Buckhead in 2019 and have never looked back. We are members at Peachtree Presbyterian Church and found ourselves driving into Buckhead almost every day and loved what we were seeing. Additionally, so many of our friends have moved to Buckhead from Boston, New York, and San Francisco. It’s awesome to find like-minded people who also discovered the many advantages of an Atlanta lifestyle for themselves.
What’s not to love about Buckhead? Buckhead is so livable.
It’s beautiful and green, many residential areas are walkable to the business districts, the cost of living isn’t outrageous compared to NYC or San Francisco, and the business community is thriving. Developments like Buckhead Village and Andrews Square keep evolving and changing and keep the city feeling fresh and exciting. There are always new restaurants and galleries opening up, so there is always something new to explore!
How do you spend your summers in the city?
My husband Alex and our two girls and I spend a lot of time outside in our backyard, a ton of time swimming, and we eat our weight in Jeni’s Ice Cream. We love exploring the farmer’s market at The Cathedral of St. Philip on Saturday mornings and walking Chastain Park. Plus the playgrounds at Chastain and Memorial Park can’t be beat on a Saturday morning.
As an entrepreneur, what benefits does Buckhead offer as a business owner?
My company Her Campus Media is based in Boston, and I’ve been working remotely since 2015. I love all of the incredible resources available to business owners in Buckhead. From workspaces like Eleanor’s Place and Industrious, to amazing coffee shops like Brash at the Atlanta History Center, there are endless places to get in some focused work sessions. I’ve also tapped into the local business community, leveraging partners like Alice Park’s Park Studios, Miss Milly’s Events, and The With Agency (all Buckhead based) for campaigns we’ve done for Kate Spade, Too Faced Cosmetics, Neutrogena, Procter & Gamble and more.
Where do you love to shop, workout and dine?
I’m a huge fan of resale clothing shopping for its positive impact on the environment. Labels is the absolute best for upscale environmentally friendly consignment. Samuel over there knows I’m a regular. House of Wallace, Lucy’s Market, Weezie Towels, and House of Hazen are great for gifts. And for a baby or young child, Baby Braithwaite can’t be beat! You can’t do summer in the city without some poolside accessories from Swoozies! My go-to workouts are Stellar Bodies, Peloton, and running in Chastian. Dinners out? The Storico Trio (Fresco, Forza and Vino), Superica, Bar Taco, Le Colonial, Umi and Bilboquet.
