Winter Warmth

Create Sanctuary From Long, Cold Months Ahead

With winter bearing down, it’s comforting to have a warm and cozy place to spend time with our families -- enjoying hobbies, reading books or watching movies. The amazing great room and outdoor space showcased here were created by the team at RSU Contractors, a full-service remodeling company that focuses on kitchens, baths, additions, basements, attics and outdoor projects.

“You have to start off with an idea and a concept, and the next biggest thing is the budget, what is affordable for you,” says RSU owner Mark Williams.

This room here was a full addition, he explains. The vaulted pine ceiling with exposed beams adds to the space and gives it a grand, lodge-type feel. The massive gas fireplace, surrounded with stone, provides not only physical warmth, but a visual feel of it as well. The large trapezoid windows mimic the roofline and let in a flood of natural light to add even more warmth to the room. A traditional hardwood oak floor, plush furniture and lots of pillows also provide a comfortable feel to the space, while the beautiful built-in bookcase and large television add entertainment value.

“RSU specializes in design build so we can help customers design what they’re looking for,” says John Stafford, sales manager. “They can then visualize [on the computer] what it’s going to look like.”

The incredible outdoor room is right off this new space. Besides lighting a roaring fire, outdoor heaters can be used when the temperature drops. RSU also creates four-season rooms with lots of windows that can be used year-round. With their sunroom feel, they can be great places to snuggle up while watching the snow fall outside.

“From a consumer standpoint, the great benefit of doing the design build is that you have a cohesive team that works all the way through from the beginning to end, so whatever your house size, we really can develop spaces that create what you want your home to be,” says Cathy Gunn, marketing representative.

Whatever one's idea of warm, comfortable and cozy is, RSU Contractors can assist with transforming visions into reality this season. Instead of cabin fever, you’ll have a place you won’t want to leave.
