Woof, Chef!

Two chefs and the pets that make them smile.

Todd Dae Kulper’s dog, Harry, is a Dalmatian mix adopted from a family in Southwest Georgia. His bestie is Zeus, Todd’s ball python, who was adopted from a snake breeder in southeastern Atlanta. Harry likes running around and playing with people and other dogs. He loves taking car rides to visit family. Zeus enjoys watching TV and hanging out around the house and attending social events where he can interact with other people. He's a major highlight whenever he makes an appearance.

Todd has been cooking professionally for 25 years with a focus on Japanese and French cuisines, including sushi. Todd is currently the executive chef of Umi Modern Japanese in Buckhead. At Umi, Todd is responsible for many of the new signature dishes, including the Chutoro Tataki with Yuzu Wakame Miso Sauce, Crispy Lobster Caviar, Wagyu Carpaccio with Black Truffle and Aged Parmigiano, and the infamous Donut! When not working, he can usually be found either hanging out with his family and pets or on the golf course.

Freddie the cat was a rescue and came into Steven Satterfield’s life as a 3-month-old kitten with health problems, a healthy appetite and a heaping dose of tenacity. Freddie is a master cuddler, when he wants to be, and is very athletic. He loves to chase a little toy on a string. Some of his favorites are bumble bee, goldfish and mouse. He can jump very high if he's motivated (like chasing a bug) and he can be chatty when he has something to say. Freddie has tons of personality and he will greet any stranger with his waving tail and a face rub on your legs.

Steven Satterfield is the James Beard Foundation Award-winning chef, cookbook author, and co-owner of Miller Union, a celebrated, seasonally driven restaurant in Atlanta. Steven is deeply committed to the progressive culinary community and holds leadership positions with Slow Food Atlanta and the Atlanta Mayor’s Office Food Waste Advisory Committee. He is also a proud and active member of Georgia Organics, a nonprofit that connects eaters with farmers and restaurants. Steven won the James Beard Foundation’s “Best Chef: Southeast” award in 2017.
