Sometimes, the best partnerships aren’t romantic—they’re all business! Brad Perry and Teresa Strasser weren’t paired by Cupid but by TV producers. Together, they bring laughs and energy to Arizona Daily Mix. For our Local Love issue, we asked this dynamic duo about the secret to making a morning show partnership work.
Q: What are your tips for sharing an office?
Teresa: Brad let’s me take control of our morning playlist, and I’m sure he’d be happy if he never heard another Taylor Swift song as long as he lives! His willingness to hear every era of Tay goes a long way. That’s why I won’t have to write a breakup song about him in the style of Taylor.
Brad: When Teresa first joined the show, I got her a brand-new mug to fuel her coffee mug obsession—it’s basically her love language. I also got her a little speaker, just in case she ever needs to drown out the sound of me talking to myself in the mornings. That’s how I warm up my voice, but hey, I figured I’d give her the option to NOT listen to my early-morning ramblings. Thoughtful, right?
Q: Are you friends outside the morning show?
Brad: I send texts from our shared nail salon (that’s right, I’m not ashamed to admit I like a pedicure from time to time). And if I find a funny video about baseball moms, I always send it.
Teresa: Honestly, Brad has a supernatural ability to find the funniest videos and memes, like the ones that feel like they were made specifically for me. It’s actually one of his superpowers.
Q: What is the most important thing about a work partnership?
Teresa: That’s easy. Always share snacks.
Brad: Unless it’s a day we are doing a fast together, in which case, always fast on the same day!
Teresa: Not to be cheesy, but a work partnership isn’t that different from any other. You try to give each other space, let everyone have their own quirks, and be there for each other. If we trust each other, the audience can sense it, and hopefully, it makes for a more entertaining hour with us each weekday morning. Doing live television together involves trust, and that’s the basis of all great partnerships, right?
