Blaak Out Training

Blaak Out Training is taking the concept of personalized fitness training to the next level by offering a fully functional mobile training program that brings the gym to you. Led by founder and trainer Mitch Blaak, their mission is to provide a safe, convenient, and customized exercise experience using outdoor spaces or designated “home-gym” spaces in client’s homes. Whatever your fitness goal may be, Blaak Out Training finds the method of training that works best to get you there. Professional trainers use a variety of styles to keep the exercises interesting with the goal of maintaining consistency and promoting self-efficacy in training.

Blaak Out Training offers 1-on-1, partner, and group classes. Classes include kickboxing, boot camps, “Blaak Out Baddies” for women, and kettle-bell, and steel-mace classes (for those who want to live on the wild side of functional training!). They also offer ‘Weekend Warrior” programs in partnership with local restaurants to host a group workout followed by a healthy brunch. Team training for local sports teams is also available to give athletes a competitive edge and improve overall athletic performance

The mobile-gym concept of Blaak Out Training was a pre-COVID-19 idea, but it came to life "during, despite, and somewhat due to the pandemic shutdowns". Blaak Out Training is ideal for the socially distanced, limited capacity environment we currently live in. Trainers use the outdoors as often as possible, although during winter months, training often occurs at indoor facilities, or in clients’ homes. Blaak Out has helped many customers select and create a designated “gym” area in their garage, basement or other home space. Professional trainers wear masks at all times and sanitize all equipment before and after each use.

Transcend Fitness

Transcend Fitness offers a boutique club atmosphere with the goal of providing the cleanest facility with the newest equipment at a favorable price point to help spread an enthusiasm for fitness in the Newtown area. The gym strives to offer members the same equipment, amenities, service and atmosphere that top clubs provide, while tailoring their offerings to address the specific needs of its members throughout their fitness journey.

Transcend is a tight-knit, family owned gym that has worked hard to grow and develop their group fitness classes and personal training. They currently feature MyZone wearable technology classes, Functional Training classes, and individual and small group/team training.

Transcend understands how critical health clubs are to ensure mental, physical and emotional well-being, and have made a significant investment to ensure the highest standards in cleanliness. The owners have installed Photocatalytic Oxidation units which are self-contained “air purifiers” to clean the air circulating in the gym, with monitors that allow the staff to make mechanical adjustments in real-time to ensure the safest possible environment for their members. Jessica Coates, co-owner of Transcend says, “This club has been our heart and soul over the last 10 years and we couldn’t imagine waking up and not going to the club. Our members have supported us and we pledge to continue supporting them”

Prospective members can stop in anytime and front desk associates will show them around and answer questions. You may also call to schedule a tour or visit their website at www.Transcendfit.com.

Barre3

Barre3 is a full-body workout that combines strength training, cardio, and mindfulness, delivering remarkable results from the inside out. Participants are guided through sustained holds, muscle-burning micro-movements, and heart-pumping cardio bursts.

Barre3 teaches 60-minute, full-body, efficient, low-impact workouts with a signature teaching approach that gives clients a rewarding endorphin high and a deep muscle burn. Set to fun, upbeat music, the choreography transitions from one muscle group to the next seamlessly while keeping the mind focused and the body balanced. In moving together, clients receive the benefits of group exercise, but with the ability for each person to make it their own.

Classes are designed for everyone (including men and teens!), and ALL levels of fitness are welcome, as instructors guide clients to make postures more or less challenging depending on individual needs. Though the studio resembles a ballet studio, there is no ballet involved. The ballet barre is a prop to maintain balance and posture. Other props include handheld weights, a soft core ball, resistance bands, and mats for floor work.

Many clients have said that barre3 feels “addictive” where upon finishing a class, you’re already thinking about when you can do it again! The studio is also known as a “happy place” in the community where people come together, supporting each other with joy, kindness, and friendship.

In response to Covid, barre3 is now offering an on-demand library of 50+ virtual classes for clients to participate in at home. Classes are led by their very own instructors, with new classes added every week. In the studio, props and surfaces are disinfected between classes and professional air filtration systems have been added. Their large studio space also allows for sufficient social distancing.

The full barre3 schedule and pricing options can be found online at www.barre3.com/newtown. They offer a “3 classes for $30” introductory option, as well as 2-week specials and one month options (both in-studio and virtual) for new members.
