It was born from the vision of Co-Founders Sheela Rodrigues and Sharon Kuriakose, who saw a gap in the market. Together, they dreamed up a full-stack, AI-powered marketplace designed to connect hosts across the country with the right private chef for any special moment.
“Our backgrounds really complement each other. I bring the food, hospitality, customer, and business perspective, while Sharon brings the technology and platform expertise,” says Rodrigues. “That combination is what brought Platesfull to life.”
In seconds, hosts are recommended chefs based on their occasion, cuisine preferences, and guest needs. They can explore menus, see clear pricing, and book. Rodrigues recalls one family who wanted to do something special for their elderly parents, but taking them to a restaurant wasn’t an option. They invited a Platesfull chef into their home, recreating that restaurant experience at their own table. The joy it brought was unlike anything they had anticipated.
“We’ve also created meaningful employment opportunities for chefs. Some of our chefs are now generating six-figure revenue through the platform, and that changes everything for them,” says Rodrigues. “It gives them the freedom to dream bigger, build their own brand, and own their career on their own terms.”
The team wants every booking to become an experience people remember and carry with them long after the plates are cleared. And they want that experience to feel truly accessible.
Platesfull launched in Austin last year and has expanded significantly since. With their momentum, they are on track to bring the marketplace to at least 30 cities by the end of 2027.
“Ultimately, all of it ties back to our biggest vision: we want Platesfull to become synonymous with private chef,” says Rodrigues. “Think about how naturally we say ‘let’s Uber’ when we need a ride.
