Holiday Celebrations are Alive and Well in the City by the Lake
Hendersonville is blessed to be home to some of the area’s most popular yuletide festivities. To help you plan your December calendar, Hendersonville Lifestyle is pleased to tell you about several upcoming celebrations that will you get the most out of Christmas 2022.
Rock Castle Holiday Open House
Dec. 3, 2022 – 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Rock Castle
The historic residence of General Daniel and Sarah Smith will host a free old-fashioned holiday celebration for visitors on Dec. 3. The event will feature tours of Rock Castle, refreshments, gift shopping and photo opportunities with Santa Claus. This event is the perfect way to kick off your yuletide season.
Deck The Hulls Boat Parade
Dec. 3, 2022 – 5:30 p.m.
Drakes Creek
The annual Hendersonville Christmas Boat Parade will take place in Drakes Creek on Dec. 3. Local captains will adorn their vessels with elaborate yuletide decorations to compete for cash prizes. The free parade will begin at Mallard Point and travel to Sanders Ferry Park before returning. Food vendors will be available at both park locations.
Hendersonville Christmas Parade
Dec. 4, 2022 – 1:00 p.m.
Main Street
The 53rd annual Hendersonville Christmas Parade will take place on Dec. 3. This year’s parade will feature many floats and vehicles featuring decorations built around the theme “A Very Frosty Christmas”. The parade will be led by grand marshal Chase Matthew and honorary chairperson Tim Watson.
Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
Dec. 4, 2022– 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.
Memorial Park
Following the conclusion of the Hendersonville Christmas Parade on Dec. 4, the annual tree lighting ceremony will take place near the Rotary Fountain in Memorial Park. The celebration will feature performances by multiple musical artists and special guests, and it will culminate with the lighting of the official 2022 Hendersonville Christmas tree.

Memorial Park and Various Locations across Hendersonville
For many folks, a holiday season would not be complete without a tour of local Christmas lighting exhibits. Fortunately, Hendersonville is home to some of the most exciting light displays to be found in Middle Tennessee. From Memorial Park to locations across the city, the lights are fun for all ages. The Hendersonville Parks Department will publish a map prior to the beginning of the lighting period to help viewers locate the displays.
Frostbite 10K/5K Races and Polar Plunge
Dec. 31, 2022 – 8:30 a.m.
Sumner County YMCA
The family favorite Frostbite races and Polar Plunge returns to the Sumner County YMCA on New Year’s Eve 2022. Featuring 10K, 5K and fun runs, the event will draw hundreds of runners. At the conclusion of the races, brave souls will have the opportunity to plunge into the cold waters of the YMCA’s outdoor pool. Registration is available through Active.com.
