Dr. Zack Willams, a medical doctor specializing in internal medicine, and Laurie DeCiantis, a nurse practitioner specializing in family medicine, recently opened Z&L Esthetics Med Spa in Rocky Hill, offering non surgical cosmetic procedures.
Z&L Esthetics offers botulinum treatments from all the brands approved by the FDA. These products help diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face and neck including the forehead, and frown lines "the 11s," (the twin lines between the eyebrows) just to name a few.
But botulinum is only the beginning of the services offered by Z&L Esthetics. They offer treatment using dermal filler made from hyaluronic acid, a natural component of skin that helps to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Filler improves areas of volume loss including the cheeks, under the eyes, the nasolabial folds, and the lips. In fact, lip volumizing is the most requested treatment Dr Williams receives.

But the treatment that sets their med spa apart is Mrs. DeCiantis' specialty, Platelet Rich Plasma, known as PRP.
Platelet Rich Plasma is obtained by drawing a patient's blood and separating it using a spinning apparatus known as a centrifuge. This separates the plasma "liquid gold" from the red blood cells. The plasma contains growth factors that promote healthy skin and is injected in the face, as well as the scalp for hair restoration. When combined with microneedling, a process used to create micro-abrasions/punctures of the skin to promote new cell growth, the effects are remarkable.
But this is not the only use for PRP. In addition to using plasma for skin restoration, a new technique being delivered by Z&L Esthetics, is the ability to gelatinize a patient's plasma to create their own dermal filler. This plasma filler corrects volume loss similarly to hyaluronic acid filler. Z&L Esthetics is the only Med Spa in Connecticut, performing this procedure.
