Creating the “Glam Look”

Local makeup artist tells how she creates the “Glam Look” on her clients.

As a child, Mariam Yelda always admired the power of makeup, and in 2013, she began her work as a makeup artist. “My job is to enhance my clients’ beauty and face structures whether it’s for a wedding, bridal shower or dinner,” she said. “With the power of makeup, I have created a great platform, met numerous great clients, advanced my clients’ self-confidence and constructed a strong, loyal team. I am beyond thankful for the choices and people I have met throughout the years. Makeup is, and will forever be, the greatest blessing that was introduced into my life.”

We recently sat down with Yelda to discuss how she goes about creating the “Glam Look” she’s known for in the West Bloomfield-area and beyond. To check out more of her work, follow her on Instagram @beautybymariam.

The “Glam Look”

Materials

  • MAC Longwear Paint Pot: Painterly

  • Neutral Eye Shadow Palette

  • Stila Metallic Liquid Eye Shadow: Rose Gold

  • MAC Prep + Prime

  • Elcie Micro Silque Foundation (or your own!)

  • MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

  • Laura Mercier Translucent Powder

  • Tarte Bronzer: Hotel Heiress

  • MAC Blush: Glow Play

  • Tatti Lashes and/or Mascara

  • Dose of Colors Liquid Matte Lipstick: Truffle

  • KKW Beauty Lip Gloss: Nude 5

Step 1

Prime the eyelid with MAC Painterly. Apply Laura Mercier Translucent Powder all over the eyelid. Add a neutral and lighter color (of your choice) in the crease of the lid, and then add the Stila Metallic Liquid Eye Shadow on the lid itself, below the crease.

Step 2

Apply MAC Prep + Prime all over the skin and then apply your foundation. (Yelda loves the Elcie Micro Silque Foundation!). Blend evenly. Apply concealer where needed (blemishes and/or under eyes). Apply the translucent powder everywhere to set foundation.

Step 3

Warm up the perimeter of the face and under the cheekbones with a bronzer. Add some color to the cheeks by sweeping your blush upwards on top of your cheek bones towards the hairline. If desired, apply false lashes and/or mascara.

Step 4

Apply lipstick/lip gloss, and the look is complete.
