Cedar Lake Village offers everyone 55 and over a personalized lifestyle with the added security of community style living.

When you are ready to make the move to a less complicated lifestyle or are searching for the ideal place for a loved one, Cedar Lake Village will surprise you at every turn.

They opened in September 2001 so are celebrating 20 years of providing care and services for seniors in the metro area this year. Originally, they offered 48 independent living apartments and 36 assisted living apartments. In 2006, they added 54 more independent living apartments along with multiple common spaces, including an indoor heated swimming pool, cinema, coffee bar, full-service bank, wellness room, a buffet-style dining room to complement the restaurant-style dining room, and an exercise gym. That same year, they began building maintenance-provided duplex homes, called Villas.

More additions came in 2016, with 24 memory care assisted living apartments and a new worship and life center. Currently, they offer 22 villas, 102 independent living apartments, 36 assisted living apartments and 24 memory care assisted living apartments.

The story told regarding the inspiration for Cedar Lake Village is that the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society relocated their skilled nursing facility to the grounds of the Olathe Medical Center campus in 1994,” explains Kelsie Tryon, Senior Living Sales Specialist. “In the late 1990s, the former CEO of Olathe Medical Center, Frank Devocelle, stood on the hill looking towards Cedar Lake (a public lake in Olathe,) alongside executives with The Good Samaritan Society, and decided they should partner together to create a senior living community and call it Cedar Lake Village. Devocelle’s vision for Olathe Health was that the campus would serve individuals from birth to end of life, creating the senior living community was a key piece to that plan.”

In addition to the proximity of the lake, this scenic, semi-rural setting offers close highway access, along with frequent visits from wildlife, and the opportunity to enjoy walking trails, gardens and the catch and release fishing pond.

They also offer a variety of services for individuals who do not reside on the campus, including a Cedar Lake Village club, a monthly membership program similar to a gym membership, offering members access to the indoor, heated swimming pool, exercise gym and attendance at all group exercise classes, activities and social events. They also offer a Respite program for caregivers, and an Adult Day Services program in both the Assisted Living and Memory Care to provide much needed assistance for full time caregivers.

“We are a Christian organization founded on Lutheran principles by Rev. August Hoeger. We hold services for various denominations throughout the month in our two chapels, all faiths and beliefs are welcome. Village Voices Choir, Hand Chimes Choir and Act Your Age theatre group enjoy performing and are led by an expert in the fine arts. Our Wellness staff value the importance of health and fitness providing exercise classes in and out of the pool along with Grief Support and Parkinson's Support groups,” says Deborah Beckwith, senior living manager. “Our weekly Balance & Brains class demonstrates our commitment to our residents' minds as well as their bodies, providing exercises to keep minds as active and agile as bodies. We feel it is important to support our residents and families by providing services that make life easier and less complicated. Residents have the choice to visit a beautician, member of a physician group, laboratory services, massage therapist, personal trainer, dentist, eye care and hearing aid cleaning all here on campus. We host a large variety of activities on campus and out in the larger community, providing our residents options, socialization and independence. One of the biggest compliments a senior community can receive is hearing residents say that this is ‘home,’ that staff and residents are so ‘friendly and helpful’ and are ‘so glad we moved here.’”
