Local Child Care Company Partners With Parents To Provider Sitters

Whether seeking sitters for children on recurring bases, or simply someone to cover date nights, last-minute developments or transportation, a Nashville placement service established by fellow parents pride themselves on providing safe, reliable assistance.

ChildCare Solution has been spearheaded by Amber Pellicani since 2016, mainly for providing sitters in Davidson and Williamson Counties. Previous co-owners founded the company in 2005. As a sitter who worked with the previous owners until they retired and now as a parent herself, Amber has excellent, well-rounded instincts and experiences to help make the best matches with personalities.

"We're different in that we personally know both our sitters and our parents, and we understand how delicate the matter of child care is. To register parents, we schedule a time to meet you in your home for a quick, approximately 15-minute meeting. This allows us to answer all your questions and fill out a registration form," explains Amber.

There's a one-time $60 registration fee due at sign-up.

Each time there's a placement, a $10 to $20 fee is paid to ChildCare Solution and then the sitter is paid $14 to $16 per hour for their time directly at the completion of each service. There are no automatic recurring fees to stay active. "This makes us a great back-pocket option to help support all your sitting needs, whether regular or sporadic," says the mother of two daughters, Kendall and Lily Kate.

''We love having ChildCare Solution as a part of our family. We count it a blessing to partner with parents to find loving, fun and reliable sitters for kiddos," Amber adds.

While they are primarily a child sitting company, they also match families with longer termed sitters or nannies as well. Amber says all sitters are CPR certified, have passed background checks and come with previous experience accompanied by referrals. She says sitters must be at least 18 years old. Many are young professionals or graduate students, especially pursuing education or nursing careers. Although, she says some empty-nesters also contribute to the sitter pool.

AMBER'S TOP ATTRIBUTES FOR OUTSTANDING SITTERS:

  1. Parents seek reliable, mature and consistent sitters.
  2. The best sitters care about the well-being of children on a level similar to parents; sitting is not just a paycheck.
  3. Safety skills are beneficial to providing peace-of-mind.
  4. Great sitters pay attention to and engage with children, making them feel secure.
  5. Good sitters are detail-oriented, as evidenced by knowing that showing up at a sports field at 5 p.m. is different than showing up at 5:15.
  6. Astute sitters are question-askers, because that shows they want to do a good job.

Large families may request more than one sitter, or multiple families going out together may set up more than one sitter at a home. Amber says they also handle sitting services for churches and other large groups, as well as become an extra set of hands during personal parties.

Prior to the COVID-19 lockdown, Amber says the business was 80 percent sitting, but now has become 80 percent nanny services with parents requesting longer commitments.

Amber also creates community partnerships with other businesses by including their details in her monthly newsletter that goes to 1,000-plus families in exchange for gift cards from those businesses, which are given to sitters who earn "Rave Reviews" from their families.

For back-to-school time, Amber suggests considering securing ChildCare Solution sitters "as personal Uber drivers" to help get various aged children on-time to different locations after-school. "We love connecting people who become an integral part of families. They fulfill a true, true need and create breathing room for parents," she says.

"We have a group of loving, professional child sitters ready to care for your children and free up your time," assures Amber Pellicani, owner of Nashville-based ChildCare Solution. This fall, Amber is adding a sitting service for youths with special needs, which will be handled by trained and certified adults.
