I may be biased being a yoga instructor, but if you haven't been to a yoga class in Kansas City, you are missing out! We have some incredible studios in our KC Metro area, and they all have something a little bit different to offer.
Vinyasa and power classes challenge the entire body and will make you feel like you just had a full session at the gym—all without the strains and injuries you risk lifting with machinery!
Yin and restorative classes are great for relaxing and stretching with no work in your muscles. They are also amazing for quieting your mind and practicing being still.
Heated classes will help you sweat out all of your toxins, and they are helpful for keeping you focused because there really are not a whole lot of other things you can be thinking about when trying to maintain your balance in a room heated to 99+ F!
Some of these studios also offer other services like meditation, reiki, massage therapy and reflexology. Take a glance through and see what jumps out at you. Most studios offer some kind of free week or first-time discount, so it never hurts to give a class a try.
I originally got into yoga because some of my sorority sisters did it and it seemed like it would be good for my body, but I never expected that it would make such a huge a difference in my mindset and overall day-to-day. I can honestly say I'm a nicer, calmer and more positive-thinking person since beginning yoga, and I still have such a long way to go!
If you want to take my beginner's vinyasa flow yoga class (Power 1), visit the Power Life Corinth Square Studio in Prairie Village Tuesdays at 7:45 p.m. and Sundays at 9:45 a.m., and be sure to tell me you are from City Lifestyle!
