We have all heard the saying, “it’s too good to be true.” This little phrase has cautioned us over the years to be wary of good things in life. However, I am here to tell the skeptics that I have found an organization that is both good in spirit, and true to its word. 100+ Women Who Care is an organization whose sole purpose is to make a positive impact.
This group of women cares so much for the people and places of St. Charles County that they are willing to extend their personal financial resources to meet community needs. 100+ Women Who Care says their “mission and hope is to provide for those in greatest need in St. Charles County.”
Four times a year, this group meets for one hour to discuss local non-profits. Members may submit charities for consideration no less than 30 days prior to the next meeting and the charity must be a 501(c)(3) organization. Charities are drawn at random by the leadership committee. Three organizations will be up for potential selection. Once the proposals have been heard, organization members will vote for the charity of their choosing. Members commit to financially support the charity with the majority vote, regardless if they originally voted for the charity or not. Each member then writes a $100 check toward the elected charity. This collective donation is then extended to that non-profit organization with only heartstrings and well wishes attached.
This group demonstrates the impact that a shared passion and generosity can make in the community at large. Our community needs individuals invested in its growth and health.
